Over the last several years we have built a proprietary, decoupled platform that has transformed our business: client onboarding that used to take days or weeks now takes a few hours, and roughly 90% of our workflow is configurable without writing code.\r\nWe are looking for a Software Developer II to help support and grow that platform. Today it includes 250+ web parts, 100+ business reports (accounting, inventory, production), and the customizable layers that matter most to our clients: ETL, postal normalization (BCC), and document composition. The remaining workflow - SFTP ingestion, decryption, job folder creation, data retention, internal and external dashboards - is fully automated and template-driven.\r\nThis role is roughly 30% maintaining and improving what we have, and 70% building new - onboarding new clients, extending the platform, and contributing to a gradual migration from .NET Framework to .NET Core/8.\r\nWhat You'll Do\r\n\r\nBuild and maintain ETL routines that ingest, normalize, and stage client data files for production.\r\nDevelop and extend internal C#/.NET web applications, web parts, and business reports.\r\nConfigure and customize composition workflows and BCC postal presort jobs from existing templates.\r\nGather requirements directly from internal stakeholders (production, customer service, accounting) and occasionally from clients - then make decisions and ship.\r\nTriage and root-cause production issues across the platform.\r\nContribute to the ongoing migration from .NET Framework to .NET Core/8 as the codebase evolves.\r\nIdentify performance bottlenecks and design for future scalability.\r\n\r\nOur Tech Stack\r\nPrimary: C#, .NET Framework (~95%), SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC\r\nGrowing: .NET Core / .NET 8 (~5% today, expanding over time)\r\nReporting: Crystal Reports, SSRS\r\nDomain tooling: BCC postal software, document composition engines, SFTP/PGP, internal dashboards\r\nLegacy (occasional): VB.NET\r\nWhat We're Looking For\r\nTechnical\r\n\r\nStrong proficiency in C# and SQL Server - you write clean, performant code and queries.\r\nSolid experience with .NET Framework and ASP.NET MVC; familiarity with .NET Core/8 is a plus.\r\nComfortable building reports in Crystal Reports, SSRS, or similar.\r\nUnderstands when to use which architecture (web app vs. web service vs. console job vs. scheduled task).\r\nStrong debugging instincts and ability to read and support unfamiliar code.\r\n\r\nHow You Work\r\n\r\nCan gather requirements from non-technical stakeholders and translate them into working software - without waiting for a perfect spec.\r\nPragmatic decision-maker: comfortable making the call, shipping, and iterating.\r\nComposed under pressure - you can tell the difference between a real problem and manufactured chaos, and you don't get pulled into the latter.\r\nSelf-directed, but knows when to pull others in.\r\nCares about the platform working well for the people who depend on it.\r\n\r\nNice to Have\r\n\r\nExperience in print, mail, manufacturing, or other production-driven environments.\r\nFamiliarity with postal presort, IMb, NCOA, or document composition tools.\r\nExperience modernizing legacy .NET Framework codebases to .NET Core/8.\r\nExposure to SFTP automation, PGP encryption, or file-based integration patterns.\r\n\r\nEducation & Experience\r\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field perferred, OR equivalent professional experience. Typically 5+ years of professional .NET development experience, but we care more about what you can do than the number on a resume.\r\nLocation & Schedule\r\nHybrid - some days on-site at our Detroit facility, some days remote. Schedule is flexible within reason.\r\nPhysical Requirements\r\nWhile performing the duties of this job, the associate is required to stand, walk, reach, and use hands. Must regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 30 pounds.
