Kiewit’s Eastern District also has a large amount of work in the energy/power sector in various northeast locations.\n\nLocation\nJob assignment location will be determined closer to your start date. Must be able to travel and relocate as frequently as business needs require. Projects are in large cities and small towns.\n\nResponsibilities\n\nDevelop complete understanding of contract plans and specifications for portion of work assigned.\n\nExamine / inspect field conditions and identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost saving measures that arise or that may be encountered. Take corrective actions as needed.\n\nInspect subordinates’ work for compliance with the contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain / take any corrective actions as needed.\n\nDevelop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software with input from other project management personnel.\n\nManage document control; receive and log new issue drawings and other contract documents.\n\nReview new issue drawings and contract documents for change of conditions; quantify impact of changes and review with supervisor; distribute new issues to field.\n\nPrepare monthly cost projections using information generated from project management systems and prepare quarterly cash flow projections.\n\nImprove project operations by recommending better methods, staffing, procedural, and other changes as needed.\n\nAct as managing project engineer / coordinator on multiple projects, providing supervision and on‑the‑job training for lower‑level engineers.\n\nRead and understand plans and specifications.\n\nVisualize two‑dimensional drawings in three dimensions.\n\nManage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed.\n\nHelp drive the company environmental health and safety programs at the project level, driving a safety‑oriented approach to work.\n\nQualifications\n\n4 years of experience in construction and/or engineering field working on heavy civil infrastructure and/or transportation type projects.\n\nBachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field (or equivalent experience and education in project and/or field engineering).\n\nProven abilities and skills within the areas of leadership, management, delegation, and mentoring of people.\n\nStrong communication skills (verbal and written).\n\nAbility to set standards of excellence in leadership, safety, quality, and productivity for subordinates.\n\nKnowledge and ability to direct operation of management systems, such as accounts payable / accounts receivable, materials control, estimating, job cost updates, and subcontracts.\n\nOther Requirements\n\nRegular, reliable attendance.\n\nWork productively and meet deadlines.\n\nCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.\n\nPerform work safely and effectively; understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.\n\nWork during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
