The Certified Peer Specialist will provide peer support services to clients, drawing from their own lived experience with mental health or substance use challenges. This role is essential in fostering a supportive, understanding, and empathetic environment that promotes recovery and wellness.ResponsibilitiesProvide one-on-one peer support to clients, using personal experiences to build rapport and trust.Assist clients in setting and achieving recovery goals.Facilitate peer support groups and workshops.Advocate for clients' needs and rights within the organization and community.Collaborate with clinical staff to develop and implement individualized care plans.Educate clients about available resources and support services.Promote a recovery-oriented philosophy in all interactions with clients.Document client interactions and progress according to organizational policies.Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.QualificationsCertification as a Peer Specialist (CPS) from an accredited training program.Personal experience with mental health and/or substance use recovery.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively with clients, families, and professional staff.Knowledge of community resources and support services.Basic computer skills and ability to maintain accurate records.Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental attitude.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience in a peer support role.Bilingual or multilingual abilities.Additional certifications or training in mental health or substance use support.
