Field Operations Lead
Field Operations Lead — Synthetic Turf Installation
Kansas City Metro|Travel Required| $60,000–$80,000 (Base + Bonus)
About Us
FLKC LLC operates ForeverLawn dealerships across Kansas City, Des Moines, and St. Louis. We install premium synthetic turf for homeowners, businesses, schools, municipalities, and commercial clients. We are building our first in‑house installation crew in 2026 and we are looking for the right person to lead it.
This is not a job for someone who wants to clock in and clock out. This is a ground‑floor opportunity to build and run an install operation alongside our Director of Operations — hire the crew, set the standard, and grow within the company as we scale.
This role starts in the field as a hands‑on crew leader. Over the next 12–24 months it evolves into a broader leadership position. Throughout the full tenure, a leadership mindset is expected from day one.
The Role
Starting Title: Field Operations Lead
Reports to: Director of Operations
Start: April/May 2026
Pay: $60,000–$80,000 (base salary + performance bonus)
Location: Kansas City metro — travel required
You will lead all in‑house field installation operations for FLKC LLC. You work directly with the Project Coordinator to manage the in‑house crew schedule and ensure jobs are executed on time, on budget, and to standard. You are on the job site every day — operating equipment, managing your crew, holding the quality standard, and representing the company professionally with every customer and partner you encounter.
You will build the crew beneath you alongside the Director of Operations. You are expected to take ownership of this operation — run it with accountability, pride, and a standard others can follow.
Travel
KC projects are the priority. If in‑town and out‑of‑town work overlap, KC jobs come first. If there is out‑of‑town work and no in‑town jobs scheduled, travel is required — no exceptions. Plan accordingly.
Out‑of‑town is defined as any job site more than 1 hour from the office or shop. Hotel and $50/day per diem are covered by the company on all out‑of‑town jobs.
What You Will Do Day to Day
Lead all in‑house synthetic turf installations — prep, base work, turf laying, seaming, infill, and finishing
Operate mini skid steer, excavator/mini excavator, compactor, concrete saw, and hand tools
Hire, onboard, and develop a crew of laborers alongside the Director of Operations
Manage job site logistics — materials, equipment, safety, and cleanup on every project
Work with the Project Coordinator to manage and maintain the in‑house crew schedule
Communicate job progress, issues, and completions through BuilderTrend
Interface professionally with residential, commercial, school, and municipal customers
Travel for out‑of‑town jobs when in‑town work is not scheduled
Identify and implement improvements to workflow, install technique, and crew efficiency on every project
Train and develop crew members through daily hands‑on leadership
What We Are Looking For
Required
Landscape construction experience — grading, base prep, hardscape, or similar field work
Crew leadership — you have managed people and gotten results
Machine operation — mini skid steer, excavator, or similar equipment
Hand tool proficiency — shovels, compactors, saws, power tools
Physical capability — sustained outdoor labor in all conditions, all season
Valid driver's license — company truck provided
Willingness to travel when the schedule requires it
Strong Plus
Synthetic turf or artificial grass installation experience
Existing crew relationships — bring capable people with you
Experience running your own crew or small operation
Familiarity with BuilderTrend or similar project management software
Eye for detail and a drive to improve on every single project
Natural tendency to anticipate problems and solve them before being asked
Ability to fluently speak Spanish and English — bilingual a plus
This Role Is For You If
You want to be responsible for something — not just employed by it
You hold yourself and your crew to a high standard without being asked
You see a problem on a job site and fix it before moving on
You want to build a team, develop people, and set the standard others follow
You have the drive to progress out of field work and into managing the full in‑house division — and you are willing to earn that step
You understand that small companies move fast, roles grow, and the person who owns their work gets the opportunity that comes with it
Growth
The right person in this role will grow with the company. The future of this position is moving into managing the full in‑house install division — project management, crew development, and operational leadership. Small businesses develop fast and roles evolve with them. This is that kind of opportunity. It is earned — not given.
