This internship is for students that have reached the point in their School Psychology program where an internship is required. Kelso School District offers the highest quality of school psychology training for the intern. We provide a culminating and diverse experience which allows individuals the opportunity to practice and integrate numerous skills with support from field-based supervisors.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Assist with assessments (intelligence, achievement, functional behavioral, social, emotional and curriculum-based assessment) and interpret results for special education eligibility and individual program needsParticipate as a team member in special education assessment, eligibility and program designAssist with case management and coordinationAssist with required reports in an accurate and timely manner; maintain compliance paperworkProvide group and individual counseling and social skills training as indicated on IEP'sConsult with parents, staff and administration regarding student needsUnderstand and comply with current legislation on children with disabilitiesUnderstand and follow policies and procedures as adopted by the school districtFollow Code of Ethics and maintain a high standard of professional behaviorProvide crisis intervention to students when appropriateParticipate in interagency teamsMaintain student confidentiality according to HIPAA and FERPA guidelinesAssist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policiesTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesQUALIFICATIONS:Knowledge of state and federal legislation for disabilities (WAC 392-172A, IDEA '04, Section 504, etc.)Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing using district-provided hardware and softwareDemonstrated ability to administer standardized testsAbility to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings as requiredExperience working with interdisciplinary teams and interagency teamsDemonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and ability to set appropriate expectations for individual studentsDemonstrated ability to satisfactorily perform the essential job functions listed belowWillingness to work with youth involved with the juvenile justice systemDemonstrated ability to maintain individual case records according to lawWillingness to participate in professional development activities designed to upgrade professional skillsMust be willing to uphold board policies and follow administrative proceduresOTHER FUNCTIONS:Fulfill all other responsibilities as assignedREPORTS TO:Special Education DirectorAPPLICATION PROCEDURE:Apply online at www.kelso.wednet.eduKelso School District #458 complies with all federal rules and regulations and does not discriminate in any programs or activities on the basis of sex, race, creed, religion, color, national origin, age, veteran or military status, sexual orientation, gender expression or identity, disability, or the use of a trained dog guide or service animal and provides equal access to the Boy Scouts and other designated youth groups listed in Title 36 of the United States Code.
