MaineCare Billing Coordinator

RSU 40 Midcoast MaineRSU 40 is seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative MaineCare Billing Coordinator to support and expand our school-based billing systems across the district. This position plays a critical role in ensuring that eligible services provided to students are accurately documented, compliant, and successfully billed.This role works closely with special education leadership, related service providers, and program staff across our continuum of services, including LEAD, Bridge, Endeavor, Composite, and Resource Room programs.What You'll DoOversee and support MaineCare billing processes across the districtEnsure services billed are medically necessary, IEP-aligned, and compliant with MaineCare requirementsCollaborate with related service providers (OT, SLP, social work, BHPs) to ensure accurate documentation and billing practicesMonitor service documentation for compliance, accuracy, and timelinessConduct internal audits, chart reviews, and utilization checks to maintain program integritySupport staff in understanding billable vs. non-billable services and documentation expectationsAssist with coding, service authorization, and claims submission processesEnsure MaineCare eligibility is verified and requirements are followed prior to billingSupport onboarding, tracking, and compliance for Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs)Stay current on MaineCare regulations, including Section 65 and school-based billing guidanceWhat We're Looking ForExperience with MaineCare/Medicaid billing in a school or healthcare setting (preferred)Knowledge of special education services and IEP processesStrong understanding of documentation, compliance, and audit requirementsAbility to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across schoolsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to train and support staff in billing practicesExperience with data systems and billing platforms (preferred)Why Join RSU 40Be part of a growing district initiative to expand and strengthen MaineCare billingWork closely with a collaborative special education leadership teamHelp build sustainable systems that directly support student servicesOpportunity to shape district-wide practices and increase program capacityMeaningful work that supports both compliance and student access to servicesPosition DetailsLocation: District-wide (RSU 40)Schedule: Full-time, in-personReports to: Special Services LeadershipTerms of Employment: Per applicable contracts and district policiesApply TodayJoin a district committed to strong systems, collaborative teams, and ensuring students receive the services they need to succeed.
