The Fire Protection Engineer will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of comprehensive fire protection systems for data centers. This role requires a highly experienced engineer with a deep understanding of fire protection engineering principles, code requirements, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in designing fire protection systems and a Professional Engineering (PE) license. This role can be based in Austin, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Atlanta, GA, Reno, NV, Grand Rapids, MI, or Las Vegas, NV.\nThis position may require travel to all of the above listed locations.\nJob Duties:\nLead the design and engineering of fire protection systems, including fire detection, suppression, and alarm systems, tailored to the unique needs of data centers.\nDevelop detailed engineering plans, specifications, and cost estimates for fire protection systems.\nEnsure designs comply with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations, including NFPA, ICC, and local building codes.\nManage and oversee fire protection engineering projects from concept through completion, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to budget.\nCoordinate with other engineering disciplines, architects, and construction teams to integrate fire protection systems seamlessly into overall data center designs.\nConduct site visits and inspections to ensure proper installation and operation of fire protection systems.\nProvide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.\nStay current with advancements in fire protection technology and industry trends.\nConduct risk assessments and fire safety evaluations for data center facilities.\nPrepare and review technical reports, design documentation, and regulatory submissions.\nEnsure all fire protection systems are documented accurately and meet all legal and safety requirements.\nMinimum Qualifications:\nValid Professional Engineering (PE) license.\nMinimum of 10 years of design experience in fire protection system design.\nBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.\nStrong knowledge of fire protection codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NFPA, ICC).\nAbility to work independently and manage priorities effectively.\nProven project management experience, with the ability to lead projects and teams effectively.\nExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.\nProficiency in fire protection engineering software and tools.\nSelf-motivated, comfortable with ambiguity and motivated to work as a team and lead others.\nTop-notch organization, attention to detail combined with excellent written and oral communication skills.\nProficiency with MS Office, AutoCAD, BlueBeam, BIM and Revit.\nBenefits:\nAll full-time employees receive a comprehensive benefit package that includes, but is not limited to, medical, dental, and vision insurance with 100% of medical premiums covered by the employer, short and long-term disability insurance, life insurance, a profit-sharing plan, vacation time, paid holidays off, and yearly performance-based bonus eligibility.\nMEI is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
