Now a wholly owned subsidiary of ERMCO, we operate with the agility of a startup and the backing of an industry leader.\n\nJob Summary\nThe Electrical Test Engineer is a high level role responsible for the design, development and optimization of transformer testing equipment for distribution transformers (1 phase and 3 phase pole and pad mount transformers, dry type transformers). As an experienced engineer, this role involves providing technical ownership on complex projects, mentoring less experienced engineers and technicians and solving advanced engineering challenges. This role includes collaboration with cross-functional teams, driving innovation, and ensuring that all designs meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.\n\nThis role will be onsite in Raleigh, NC. Relocation Assistance is available.\n\nResponsibilities:\nDesign and develop electrical test systems and components for distribution transformers, reactors and special transformers, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA).\nConduct detailed engineering analysis to optimize cost, performance and efficiency.\nPerform and oversee failure analysis on design and production related issues, identifying root causes, and implementing corrective actions to improve product quality and reliability.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.\nMentor and guide junior engineers and technicians by offering technical expertise, support, and development opportunities.\nCollaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and supply chain, to ensure successful integration of designs into production.\nPrepare and maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and technical reports.\nStay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovation and ensure competitive product designs.\nContribute to continuous improvement initiatives, promoting innovation and efficiency in design processes and methodologies.\nMaintain a safe work environment for development, troubleshooting and acceptance testing of test equipment including medium voltage level (up to 100 kV).\nQualifications:\nBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering. Master’s degree is a plus.\n5-6 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on transformer and related products testing and/or design.\nProven ability to perform design projects from concept to production.\nExtensive experience with electrical testing of transformers and testing equipment.\nExtensive experience and knowledge with industry standards (e.g. IEEE, IEC, CSA, NEMA) and regulatory requirements for transformers or components.\nStrong analytical and problem-solving skills, with keen attention to detail.\nExcellent problem-solving abilities, capable of addressing complex technical challenges independently.\nEffective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and manage stakeholders.\nHighly organized, with the ability to manage multiple complex projects and priorities.\nExperience conducting failure analysis and implementing corrective actions for design and production related issues.\n\nLet’s Build the Future Together\n\nAt ERMCO, your ideas matter, your growth is supported, and your impact is real.
