Mechanical Designer III

OverviewThe IS Mechanical Designer III will design mechanical systems, components, or assemblies using engineering principles.ResponsibilitiesWorks closely with project managers, engineers and contractors to create unique high-level concepts and designs for all assigned projects.Works closely with the team to ensure the successful execution of goals of all assigned projects.Conducts field surveys to identify existing equipment types and system capabilities.Produces, with limited supervision, design documents including drawings, system flow diagrams and architecture, wiring diagrams, construction details, and equipment scheduling.Delivers concepts and designs according to strict project deadlines.Contributes to all areas of the creative process and department.Handles complex issues and problems and refers only the most complex issues to higher-level staff.Provides leadership, coaching, and/or mentoring to team members. May act as a lead or first-level supervisor.Provides training to designer level staff on basic design principles and standards.QualificationsRequired Education, Experience, and QualificationsAssociate degree in HVAC Technology, Building Systems Engineering, Construction Management, or related field4-6 years' design experienceStrong proficiency in AutoCAD and REVITStrong technical skillsEffective oral and written communications skillsVision and CreativityAbility to meet deadlinesPlanning skillsPossesses working knowledge of the subject matter.Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.Excellent multitasking skills, with the ability to perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.Preferred Education, Experience, And QualificationsBachelor of Science in Engineering degreeBuilding Automation System design and sequence writing experience - Preferred systems include Siemens, JCI, Honeywell, Trane, Struxureware, and TridiumHVAC Design and Commissioning experience - Preferred systems include Chilled Water, Heating Water, Condenser Water, and SteamHigher Education and Healthcare design experienceTravel Requirements10-25% of time will be spent traveling to job site(s)/office location.Physical ActivitiesClimbing stairs.Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments including tight and confined spacesRemaining in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periodsRepeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingersMoving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to anotherEnvironmental ConditionsOutdoor elements such as precipitation and windNoisy environmentQuiet environmentSmall and/or enclosed spacesPhysical DemandsLight work that includes adjusting and/or moving objects up to 20 pounds
