FPT is a wholly-owned business of Cleveland-Cliffs and offers an immediate opportunity for a Scale Clerk at one of our Detroit, MI locations.\r\nResponsibilities Ensure adherence to safety standards, including use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), remove hazards as identified, and maintain cleanliness of the site.\r\nAccurately inspect all materials ensuring correct weights, materials description, and grade for all inbound and outbound loads.\r\nDetermine the grade of the material, enter it into the inventory system, and direct to proper location.\r\nOperate and maintain mobile equipment including forklifts and skid steers.\r\nProvide day-to-day training and guidance to develop our team to its fullest potential.\r\nAnswer customer questions about materials, pricing and procedures.\r\nMaintain records as required.\r\nResearch, compare, and evaluate local markets.\r\nManage, arrange, and schedule pickups and deliveries with carriers.\r\nAssist with processing as needed, periodically operating and maintaining equipment.\r\nMaintain scale house and keep grounds organized.\r\nOperate scale computer, applying correct material and inventory codes.\r\nPrepare proper paperwork for shipments.\r\nCommunicate effectively with transportation, customers, management, and yard employees.\r\nInteract with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.\r\nEnsure quality of inbound and outbound materials.\r\nPre-Employment background, physical, and hair drug screen required.\r\nQualifications High School Diploma/GED and must be at least 18 years of age.\r\nExperience in scrap industry preferred.\r\nComputer experience with Microsoft Office preferred.\r\nGood communication and interpersonal skills.\r\nBasic math and data entry skills.\r\nAbility to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks at once.\r\nAbility to maintain accurate records.\r\nAbility to follow oral and written communication.\r\nAbility to climb ladders or steps to reach objects.\r\nWork cooperatively with other employees and the public.\r\nMust be able to work in an environment where routinely exposed to dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate and changes in weather.\r\nBenefits We offer an excellent total compensation package including competitive pay, health insurance, retirement plan, education assistance, paid time off, and more.\r\nEEO Statement and Accommodations Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is a certified equal-opportunity employer – M/F/Veteran/Disability.
