SEAD Program Developer (BASAS 9) (SY26-27)
General Description and Goals:The SEAD Instructional Program Developer will focus on enhancing teacher, paraprofessional, and school administration capacity to provide instruction that builds students' social-emotional skills and develops students' sense of engagement in and ownership of their learning. As a member of the Office of Health and Wellness, the SEAD Program Developer will also assist in system-wide supports, professional development and coaching for the BPS through coaching, professional development, and technical assistance, to ensure that all Boston’s Public Schools learners succeed.Reports to: Director of Social Emotional Learning and InstructionResponsibilities:Support principals and appropriate school-based teams in:The development and implementation of a school-based professional development program for teachers Coaching and mentoring the teachers in social-emotional learning as well as instructional practices and protocolsReviewing materials to ensure consistency of transformative SEL approach and alignment to High Quality Instructional Materials and Frameworks Provide support and professional development to administrators responsible for supervising and evaluating teachers. Participate in professional development, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions as well as connect to professional development offerings from other departmentsDesign appropriate resources and PD to support the integration of social-emotional learning programming across the districtUsing various tools including coaching logs and assessments, to inform SEAD practices, SEAD coaching, and resources to ensure strong fidelity of implementationActively participate in departmental and cross-functional teamsPartner with other departments, schools, and organizations to work towards theDepartment’s goal of closing the achievement and opportunity gaps for all learnersOther duties as assignedQualifications - Required:Bachelor’s DegreeHold a valid MA DESE license in Early Childhood, Elementary, Special Education, or ESL AND Principal/Assistant Principal OR Director/Supervisor LicenseStrong background in PreK-8 instructionA minimum of five years teaching experienceExperience teaching/coaching teachers Knowledge of adult learning theoryOutstanding presentation and facilitation skills Interpersonal skills to share proven instructional approaches with teachers and administrators and provide advice and coachingStrong organizational skills and efficiency in meeting deadlinesQualifications - Preferred:Master’s DegreeExperience working as an instructional coach teacher, education specialist or coordinatorExperience in developing and designing instructional materials to support SELExperience developing and presenting professional development opportunitiesExperience teaching/working in an urban settingCompetence in more than one languageSpecial education/ELL credential, experience, and/or expertiseStrong background with Boston Public Schools’ curriculaTERMS: BASAS 9, 207 daysPWork Year: 9/1 - 8/31Please refer to www.bostonpublicschools.org/ohc (under "Employee Benefits and Policies") for more information on salary and compensation.
