This is not a traditional software development position and does not require someone to be a software developer.The ideal candidate is technically curious, dependable, comfortable working around vehicles and technology, and able to communicate clearly when problems are identified.Some days may involve structured testing and detailed troubleshooting. Other days may involve installing prototype components, updating vehicle software, gathering logs, reproducing an issue, or simply driving a vehicle under specific conditions to evaluate its behavior.Responsibilities• Work directly with prototype and development vehicles• Perform vehicle and system testing based on engineering instructions• Install, remove, or exchange prototype vehicle components when required• Perform software updates, flashing, configuration, and basic system setup• Reproduce and investigate issues reported by engineering teams• Gather logs, screenshots, photos, vehicle information, and other supporting data• Clearly document test results, failures, and observations• Communicate issues and findings to Honda engineers and other team members• Assist engineers with troubleshooting and problem reproduction• Track assigned work and provide accurate status updates• Learn Honda specific tools, processes, systems, and testing procedures• Drive development vehicles as part of testing when required• Support additional onsite engineering activities as project needs changeWhat We Are Looking ForTechnical depth is helpful, but communication, dependability, attention to detail, and the ability to learn are extremely important for this position.Candidates should be:• Comfortable working hands on with vehicles, electronics, computers, and software• Able to follow detailed testing procedures and technical instructions• Comfortable troubleshooting problems without always having an immediate answer• Strong communicators who can clearly explain what happened, what was tested, and what was observed• Organized and capable of documenting work accurately• Comfortable learning new technology and unfamiliar systems• Dependable and able to work independently• Comfortable interacting directly with engineers and client personnel• Willing to perform both highly technical tasks and routine testing activities depending on the needs of the dayPreferred BackgroundA degree or experience in areas such as Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or a related technical field is helpful.Experience with any of the following is also beneficial:• Automotive testing or validation• Electrical or electronic systems• Software or hardware troubleshooting• Prototype vehicles or vehicle components• Android or embedded systems• ADB or command line tools• CAN or vehicle communication systems• Test equipment and data collection• Issue tracking or documentation tools such as JiraPrior automotive experience is not required if the candidate has a strong technical foundation, communicates well, and is willing to learn.Important ExpectationsThis position is onsite five days per week in Raymond, Ohio and requires someone who can reliably be at the Honda R&D facility each day.The position is a 1099 contract role.
