Senior Manager, Accounting
The Senior Manager, Accounting ’s primary responsibilities include to effectively manage the monthly close process, and have strong involvement in financial reporting, supporting the external audit, technical accounting, setting and maintaining accounting policies, SOX compliance and operating the accounting system. The Senior Manager, Accounting will assist with preparation of future SEC filings, including the financial statements and various MD&A and footnote schedules, as well as XBRL review and tie-out of financial information related to 10-Q and 10-K filings. Works with the Assistant Controller and other team members to develop scalable and efficient accounting processes.This is a highly visible role with exposure to all functional departments. In addition to daily and monthly responsibilities, the Accounting Manager will aid the Corporate Controller in the execution and creation of new processes to support our client's growing organization.Responsibilities:Manages the general accounting function, including performance of the month-end/quarter-end close process, preparation and booking of complex journal entries, and preparation of complex account reconciliations and review of account reconciliations.Supports the Controller in the management of all accounting activities of the company, to ensure efficient transaction processing.Prepares and/or reviews financial statements and variance analysis, including monthly trends, budget vs. actual and other flux analysis.Supports the requirements of the annual audit and quarterly reviews through preparation of audit schedules and other support to external auditors.Ensures integrity of the company’s accounting system, including new account, department and project set-up, financial report development and maintenance, and interfaces between payroll, equity, financial planning and expense management systems to the general ledger.Education and Professional QualificationsCPA and bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance or Business required.5-6+ years accounting experience, including at least three years in a public company.Big 4 audit experience and biotech industry preferred.Strong knowledge and understanding of GAAP accounting and financial principles.Experience operating within a Sarbanes-Oxley control environment.Excellent oral and written communication skills.Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with people in diverse and different settings.
