The Assistant Controller will partner with operations and leadership to provide actionable financial insight and ensure compliance with GAAP and regulatory requirements. This role focuses heavily on cost accounting, inventory accuracy, and manufacturing financial processes.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport and execute month-end and quarter-end close activities, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.Manage manufacturing cost accounting processes: standard costing, cost roll-ups, variance analysis, work-in-process (WIP) and inventory accounting.Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports; present findings to the Controller and senior leadership.Develop, maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies and procedures to ensure compliance and reduce risk.Lead budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis processes; provide scenario modelling and driver-based forecasts to support decision making.Coordinate and support external and internal audits; prepare audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries.Supervise and mentor accounting staff, including workload delegation, performance reviews and training to ensure a high-performing team.Drive ERP and financial systems improvements, lead implementations or upgrades, and optimize accounting processes and automation (Excel, reporting tools).Collaborate with manufacturing, procurement and operations teams to support cost reduction initiatives, capital project accounting and inventory optimization.Assist with cash flow management, tax provisioning and statutory reporting as required by the Controller.QualificationsBachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or CMA strongly preferred. MBA is a plus.7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with significant exposure to manufacturing accounting and cost accounting.Prior experience as an Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant, or similar role with supervisory responsibilities.Strong knowledge of US GAAP and experience with month-end close, financial reporting, audit support and internal controls.Advanced proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and Excel; experience with financial reporting and BI tools preferred.Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, build forecasts and deliver actionable insights to operations and leadership.Excellent leadership and communication skills, with experience managing and developing accounting teams.High attention to detail, strong organizational skills and ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
