Edwards is a world leader in commercial fire and safety products that go into commercial buildings. As a Test/Validation Engineer you will execute and deliver precision testing of various Edwards products. In this role, you will focus on the product testing, creation of testing protocols and requirement validation to ensure quality performance for our customers and agencies from around the world. Also, fire notification products that include strobes, sounders and speakers.\nTesting Edwards Fire Systems with a focus on devices ensuring all product operations and functionality.\nCreate and execute testing and validation procedures for each product assigned\nGuarantee that the product tests meet agency requirements. (Agencies include UL, ULC, FM, CSFM, FCC, CE, EN-54, and CCCF)\nRun official agency testing for UL (CTDP) and FM (LabQual)\nEnsure that each electrical component, system and even testing equipment are properly functioning in excellent condition\nTest products using various tools like computer software, surface mount technology (SMT), electrical equipment (such as oscilloscopes and multi-meters) and specific testing techniques (such as smoke boxes, heat tunnels, environmental chambers, etc.)\nUse JIRA testing procedures to develop programs for hardware and software operation\nRecord all testing processes and log all defects in the JIRA\nTroubleshoot with the engineering department when issues are found when testing\nCollaborate with other test engineers as well as the design engineers on various product development projects in order to maintain constant communication among teams\nMaintain all assigned test plans and schedules for assigned projects\nManagement of the engineering test lab\n\nAssist in the maintenance of the testing lab, ensuring that the lab equipment and system samples are organized\nMaintain installation instructions and manuals in the lab\nArchive test processes and results\nEnsure that there is a clean, safe, and organized common workspace\nBasic Qualifications\n\nAssociate’s Degree in Electronics Technology, Lab technician, Electrical Engineering, or related field in with 5 years of testing /validation experience\n2+ years of Fire Alarm System installation experience\n2+ years of experience working in an engineering test lab and testing various electrical devices and components\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nB.A./ B.S. in Electronics Technology, Lab technician, Electrical Engineering, or related field with 2 years of related experience preferred\nExperience with JIRA software\nKnowledge of the fire and safety industry\nUnderstanding of how to use sound measurements, light measurements, smoke tunnels, fire test rooms, smoke boxes, heat tunnels, CO chambers, etc\nGeneral understanding of engineering equipment like soldering irons, hand-held power tools\nExcellent self-task management/prioritization and documentation skills in a R&D or testing lab environment\nUnderstands how to read and interpret schematics\nBasic knowledge of low voltage electronics\nExpert on Microsoft Office (especially Excel and macros in Excel)\nDemonstrated analytical and problem solving skills with little to no supervision\nInterpersonal skills to work with several departments, including engineering and production\nExcellent verbal and written communication skills\nAbility to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 50 lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation\nOn occasions, this role will be required to climb ladders and stairs with or without reasonable accommodations\nMust be authorized to work in the U.S.A. without restrictions\nCompensation and Benefits\nIndividuals may be eligible for an annual performance bonus based on both individual and company’s performance.
