Shelter Aide

Position Summary: The Shelter Aide ensures overnight clients receive quality services by providing assistance while they are in residence at The Salvation Army program.Essential ResponsibilitiesAssist shelter clients with their daily needs while they are in residence in the shelterAssist with meal and snack preparation, serving, and clean-upAssure the shelter area is kept clean and orderlyAssure residents follow shelter policies and proceduresTransport or arrange for transportation of clients needing medical careFacilitate referrals to area social service agencies to move client toward discharge from the shelterPerform other duties as assignedQualificationsEducation/Experience:High School diploma / GED, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilitiesSkills, Knowledge & AbilitiesMaintain strict client confidentialityLearn and adhere to The Salvation Army Social Services Code of EthicsAdhere to professional codes of ethics as they apply to professional licensingUnderstand and adhere to professional boundaries within and outside of the organizationDemonstrate a continued effort to increase self-awareness and to better understand other cultures and issues of social justice, and promote racial understanding and reconciliationComputer SkillsWorking knowledge of Microsoft Office 365Working knowledge of TEAMS and SharePointBasic computer skillsCertificates And LicensesMust have and maintain a current valid driver’s license and pass the Salvation Army Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)Complete Safe From Harm training, and keep current as needed
