Advancing the world of health™ is our Purpose, and it’s no small feat.\nResponsibilities Ensure safety amongst associates in the facility relating to chemical, weather, environmental, machine safety, or ergonomics.\nMaintain day‑to‑day compliance with applicable air, hazardous waste, wastewater, and storm water permits, plans, regulations, etc.\nInterpret environmental laws and permit requirements, stay abreast of the changing regulatory landscape, and analyze options for compliance.\nSupport laboratory and environmental compliance activities, including method validation, equipment calibration, regulated testing, documentation review, training coordination, waste management, regulatory audits, and continuous improvement initiatives across microbiology, chemistry, and environmental functions.\nConduct IH testing as required.\nProvide training for associates to ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permit requirements.\nSupport the plant in maintaining ISO 14001 certification and ensuring continued compliance.\nEnsure all work performed complies with all environmental and hazardous waste procedures, plans, policies, and requirements.\nImplement processes to meet the obligations of permits, plans, and regulations, ensuring they are operational and effective.\nAssist with reporting and record‑keeping activities for facility permits and other environmental regulatory reporting and corporate sustainability data tracking.\nParticipate in environmental training programs required to maintain regulatory compliance.\nParticipate in environmental and safety inspections and audits.\nAssess the Hazardous Waste Management program and assist with program modifications.\nPerform other duties as required to support business needs.\nQualifications Bachelor’s degree in environmental, chemical, biosystems engineering, occupational health and safety, or a related field (required).\nTwo years of manufacturing operation experience (required).\nTwo years of leading EHS issues (required).\nExperience managing/handling environmental compliance, including reporting, record‑keeping, environmental permitting for all media, manufacturing operations, and regulatory reviews (required).\nExperience evaluating/interpreting OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations (required).\nProfessional Engineer (PE), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Certified Safety Professional (ASP/CSP), or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) certifications preferred.\nExperience in medical device or pharmaceutical manufacturing preferred.\nKnowledge and experience with ISO 14001 compliance preferred.\nKnowledge, Skills, & Abilities MS Office – Proficient\nOrganizational, written, and verbal communication – Proficient\nAbility to meet deadlines – Proficient\nCommunication and presentation skills – Proficient\nDetail oriented – Proficient\nProject management skills – Advanced\nCustomer service skills – Advanced\nAbility to work with limited supervision – Proficient\nLeadership skills – Proficient\nAnalytical skills – Proficient\nProblem‑solving skills – Advanced\nPrimary Work Location: USA NE - Columbus (West)\nBecton, Dickinson, and Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
