About the Opportunity:The Staff Database Engineer (PostgreSQL) will play a key role in maintaining and scaling the organization''s core database infrastructure. This position is responsible for ensuring database performance, reliability, and scalability to support rapid platform growth. The role involves managing database administration, monitoring, automation, and collaborating with teams to optimize schema and query performance. The position contributes directly to the organization''s mission by enabling robust, high-quality infrastructure for healthcare delivery.3. Responsibilities:Administer database infrastructure across production, QA, and development environmentsMonitor database performance and maintain automation scriptsManage setup, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting of Aurora databasesDesign and execute zero or minimal downtime upgrades and disaster recoveryImplement best practices for partitioning, archiving, and accessing archived dataMeasure and optimize system performance and conduct capacity planningImplement security instrumentationCollaborate with feature teams to improve schema and queriesObserve application behavior to prioritize query optimizations4. Requirements:Deep expertise in Amazon AWS RDS Aurora, PostgreSQL replication, partitioning, clustering, and high availabilityExperience ensuring database reliability, performance, and scalability in mission-critical environmentsStrong foundation in designing, scaling, and optimizing PostgreSQL deploymentsAbility to prioritize platform needs balancing short-term and long-term goalsCollaborative leadership and strong communication skillsHigh execution focus with problem-solving and initiative-taking abilitiesProficiency with tools such as Terraform, PG Bouncer, scripting, and PostgreSQL monitoring systemsExperience building and maintaining infrastructure for critical applicationsU.S. work authorization required5.
