Interferometer Technicians check flatness of in-process and final products in a cleanroom environment. Responsibilities encompass the setup, calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of interferometers, as well as collaboration with engineers and scientists to optimize instrument performance. Our 2nd shift schedule is Monday-Friday 3:00pm to 11:30pm.\n\nPrimary Duties & Responsibilities\n\nSet up, calibrate, check out and operate the Interferometer\n\nAssist in defining and documenting the Interferometer operation tools and procedures\n\nAnalyze applicable data to evaluate operations, processes and products\n\nEvaluate procedures and recommend changes or modifications for efficiency and adaptability to production\n\nVerify conformance of finished workpiece to specifications\n\nConfer with engineers, production personnel or others to resolve issues\n\nMaintain safe, clean, orderly and organized work areas\n\nAccurate and timely completion and organization of required paperwork\n\nPerform all other duties, as assigned\n\nEducation & Experience\n\nHigh School diploma or equivalent required\n\n2+ years of experience in quality inspection or metrology\n\nPrevious experience operating complex scientific instrumentation such as interferometers or microscopes\n\nTechnical training a plus\n\nExperience with precision measuring equipment, clean room operations, interferometer equipment or optical CMMs highly desirable\n\nExperience with lapping equipment desirable\n\nExperience with precision measurement methods and systems\n\nAbility to read and understand engineering drawings and process procedures\n\nDemonstrated ability to follow instructions and procedures closely while offering suggestions for continuous improvement\n\nExperience with networked PC based computer system (spreadsheets, Email, MRP systems)\n\nSkills\n\nBasic reading and math skills\n\nGood manual dexterity and fine motor skills – able to manipulate small components\n\nClean and organized (will work in a clean room environment)\n\nPatient and conscientious\n\nMetrology: Must be skilled in the use of hand and electronic gauging (inspection less than .0001 inches) and other electronic equipment\n\nExperience with manufacturing process improvement initiatives\n\nRelated experience in high-precision R&D/manufacturing environment\n\nHands-on individual with keen interest in position with varied tasks\n\nGoal oriented with a proven record of getting work done on time\n\nHigh mechanical and mathematical aptitude\n\nExperience with use of various measuring tools\n\nExperience with process improvement initiatives\n\nPhysical Requirements\n\nAble to frequently lift/push/pull objects that are 25 pounds, or lighter, repeatedly\n\nAble to sit, stand, bend, squat and walk about the facility\n\nWalking/standing a minimum of eight (8) hours per day\n\nSafety Requirements\n\nAll employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp.
