Bar Manager
An established East Austin restaurant is looking for an experienced Bar Manager to lead the bar program, create exceptional cocktails, and deliver a great guest experience. This is a full-time leadership role in a busy, high-energy environment.
Location: East Austin, TX
Pay: $60,000–$70,000/year + paid health insurance + 2 weeks PTO
Schedule: Full-time, includes late nights and weekends
Position Summary
The Bar Manager provides leadership and support to the dining room and bar team. This role is responsible for managing all facets of service, with a focus on bar operations, team development, and guest experience. The Bar Manager consistently looks for opportunities to elevate service standards, grow the team’s skills, and deliver memorable hospitality. A passion for beverages, cocktails, and Austin’s vibrant hospitality scene is essential, along with strong business acumen to help achieve financial goals.
Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of restaurant operations related to the bar
Ensure excellent guest service that meets or exceeds expectations
Ensure that the restaurant is adequately staffed to meet guest needs
Control day-to-day operations — profit & loss, by following cash control/security procedures, reviewing financial reports, and taking appropriate actions
Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints and resolve problems
Ensure product quality and cleanliness in all areas
Enforce safe work behaviors to maintain a safe environment for both guests and staff members
Meet the restaurant's P&L and expense goals
Execute weekly bar inventory
Maintain professional behavior while creating a warm, fun, friendly, and hospitable atmosphere
Demonstrate leadership skills, including coaching, directing, and motivating a team
Cocktail & Menu Creation — seasonal, event-driven, and specialty drink programming
Beverage Ordering — spirits, wine, beer, mixers, and non-alcoholic products
Bartender Scheduling — ensuring proper coverage for service and events
Bartender Training & Education — mentorship and ongoing skill development for the team
Experience with COGS and Controlling Measures — monitoring costs and improving margins
Worked with XtraChef or similar back-office inventory/ordering software
Maintain positive and encouraging demeanor while fostering a collaborative work environment
Build and sustain strong vendor and rep relationships
Possess experience within the Austin cocktail and beverage scene, including trends and key players
Available for late-night shifts as required
Cocktail R&D and menu development
Curation of the spirits, wine, and cocktail list
