This role documents algorithm workflows, establishes testing processes, validates outputs, troubleshoots issues, and ensures reliable delivery of production-ready solutions.\n\nSuccess in this role is demonstrated through accurate algorithm implementation, effective collaboration with Science Teams and stakeholders, and the successful transition of validated software into operational environments.\nWhat You Will Do in This Role\nThe Scientific Programmer II – Algorithm Integration supports the operationalization of scientific algorithms by documenting requirements, integrating and validating code, establishing testing processes, ensuring output accuracy, and collaborating with scientific and technical stakeholders to deliver reliable production-ready solutions.\n\nAnalyze and document algorithm inputs, outputs, workflows, and production rules across operational units, identifying variations in requirements and implementation approaches.\nDefine and maintain operational execution procedures, including run triggers, intermediate data exchanges, processing workflows, and final delivered output products.\nEstablish, maintain, and validate project baseline test cases in collaboration with Science Teams to support consistent software verification.\nEvaluate code updates and enhancements against established baselines to identify impacts, maintain functionality, and support regression testing activities.\nReview and analyze regression test results to identify issues, verify fixes, and ensure continued algorithm reliability.\nCoordinate with Science Teams and technical stakeholders to communicate progress, resolve issues, manage dependencies, and track project activities through tools such as Jira.\nIntegrate and validate software components in alignment with coding standards, interface requirements, build processes, and project documentation checklists.\nVerify output products for accuracy, quality, format compliance, logging requirements, and adherence to operational standards.\nTroubleshoot, optimize, and debug code while supporting updates to input/output file formats and data processing workflows.\nDevelop and maintain technical documentation, including production rules, delivery documentation, operational procedures, and user guidance materials.\nDemonstrate delivered software capabilities and production workflows while providing technical support during transition to operational environments.\nDevelop and execute test cases to evaluate impacts from upstream data changes and support downstream algorithm enhancements.\n\nWhat You Will Bring\nBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Physics, or a related scientific or technical discipline.\n2–4 years of experience in system integration, software deployment, or IT operations.\nHands-on experience with one or more of the following programming languages: FORTRAN, C, or C++, supporting application development, integration, maintenance, or performance-focused initiatives.\nWorking knowledge of Python for application support, scripting, or automation.\nStrong understanding of configuration management, APIs, system interfaces, and data flow between interconnected systems.\nExperience with container technologies, preferably Docker, and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.\nDemonstrated ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and resolve complex software integration issues.\nStrong documentation, communication, and coordination skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams.\n\nWork authorization/security clearance requirements\nAbility to obtain a security clearance.\n\nWork Environment\nThis work is normally completed in a remote environment.\n\nPhysical Demands\nProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.\nMust be able to access and navigate each department at the organization's and client facilities.\n\nTravel Required\nNo\n\nProficiency Requirement\nThe employee is expected to demonstrate proficiency in all essential job functions, tools, and processes related to this position within the first 90 days of employment.
