The Scaffold Builder will perform scaffolding tasks required for the fabrication and maintenance of steel / iron structures — ensuring safe, stable platforms per contract specifications, safety procedures, and ISO‑QA/QC standards.\nKey Responsibilities:\n· Erect scaffolding and temporary structures to provide safe work platforms on offshore installations — including steel‑pipe scaffolds, support braces, clamps, planks, walkways, etc.\n· Dismantle scaffolding after work completion in a safe, organized manner.\n· Fit together scaffolding components: steel pipes, support braces, clamps, bolts; place planks, position and secure components properly.\n· Interpret and follow job specifications, blueprints, drawings or plans to ensure scaffolding is installed according to required dimensions and quality standards.\n· Use appropriate hand tools, power tools, and lifting/rigging equipment; ensure safe use of equipment (man‑lifts, harnesses, lifting devices, etc.) when needed.\n· Inspect scaffolding materials and existing structures for safety, wear or defects; remove/replace any unsafe materials.\n· Participate in safety meetings, job‑safety assessments (JSAs), and comply with all safety, health, and environmental policies.\n· Work as part of a team — coordinate with other trades (welders, fitters, riggers) to support overall construction or maintenance projects offshore.\n· Carry out additional tasks as directed by supervisors or foremen — flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing tasks is required.\nSkills & Qualifications:\nPrior experience (often 1–2+ years) in scaffolding — preferably offshore scaffolding in oil & gas, petrochemical, or similar industrial settings.\nPhysical fitness and stamina: able to work at heights, climb scaffolds, perform physically demanding work (lifting, bending, climbing, working in tight or confined spaces, etc.).\nKnowledge of scaffolding types and methods — ability to build, assemble, dismantle scaffolding safely and correctly.\nAbility to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, job orders, specifications.\nProficiency with hand tools and power tools; familiarity with rigging and lifting equipment; safe use of safety gear (harnesses, safety belts, etc.).\nStrong safety awareness and adherence to safety protocols, especially in offshore / industrial environments.\nGood communication skills — both verbal and written — to coordinate with supervisors, foremen, and other crew.\nAbility to pass required pre-employment screenings: physical exam, drug test, background check (if applicable).\nValid offshore‑related clearances/certifications when required (for example, identification card such as TWIC card in the U.S.).\nBenefits:\n· Competitive salary\n· Comprehensive benefits package (including health, dental, and vision insurance)\n· 401(k)\n· Paid time off\n· Opportunities for professional development and growth\nPhysical Requirements:\n· Prolonged sitting or standing for long periods of time.\n· Extensive use of a computer terminal\n· Frequent walking\n· Frequently will lift up to 20 pounds\n· Close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus\n· Travel required\n· Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends and/or evenings as necessary (based on project demands)\n· Conducts walk-throughs of construction sites.\n· Normal office environment\n· Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting and/or moving of materials or equipment (over 50 pounds).\n· Requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, solvents, fumes and heavy equipment\n· Requires working in outdoor weather conditions\n·\nEEOC Statement:\nGIS is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
