This is a highly strategic role at the intersection of underwater robotics, operations, engineering, and technology development. Role OverviewThis is a high impact operational and engineering role focused on the construction, assembly, operation, optimisation, and long term development of Oceyon’s underwater robotics capabilities.The selected candidate will progressively take ownership of Oceyon’s ROV operations while also contributing to the evaluation and management of AUV systems, sensor technologies, and external robotics suppliers.The role combines:underwater robotics piloting,engineering and assembly,technical project management,operational readiness,and long term technology development.The ideal candidate is highly hands on, entrepreneurial, technically versatile, and capable of operating in demanding offshore and exploration environments.Over time, the candidate is expected to contribute to the design, assembly, and deployment of increasingly advanced ROV systems, including future deep water systems capable of operating at depths of 1000m / 3000ft and beyond. Key ResponsibilitiesTake operational responsibility for Oceyon’s existing and future ROV systemsPilot underwater robotic systems during surveys, inspections, and recovery operationsLead and conduct the assembly, configuration, testing, maintenance, and optimisation of ROV systemsAnalyse, evaluate, and manage relationships with AUV and ROV suppliers and technology partnersSupport the development and integration of advanced sensor technologies and detection systemsContribute to future in house assembly and engineering of deeper water ROV systemsAssist in designing robust operational workflows for robotics deployment and maintenanceTrain and educate team members in piloting, operating, and maintaining underwater robotic systemsParticipate in offshore and onshore field missions in the US and internationallyCollaborate closely with Oceyon’s leadership, survey teams, historians, scientists, and technology partnersContribute to the long term robotics and automation roadmap of the companyHelp establish Oceyon’s operational and technical presence in Florida and the broader US market Required Profile & Background5–10+ years of experience building, assembling, operating, and maintaining underwater robotic systems (ROV and/or AUV)Master’s degree from a leading engineering university in robotics, ocean engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or related fieldsStrong hands on experience with underwater robotics piloting and operationsEngineering mindset with the ability to troubleshoot, optimise, and improve robotic systemsExperience with subsea sensors, sonar systems, electronics, mechanics, or embedded systems is highly preferredExperience in offshore, marine robotics, ocean engineering, defence, survey, or industrial subsea operations is a strong advantageEntrepreneurial and highly autonomous personalityComfortable operating in startup and rapidly evolving environmentsAbility to travel and participate in offshore operations when requiredStrong problem solving capabilities and
