If you are forward thinking and passionate about public service, consider joining BCPL in this position.\n\nSchedule:\n\nThis position works 8 hours per day, Monday-Friday.\n\nJob Summary:\n\nUnder the general direction of the Processing Supervisor, the Processor performs technical and clerical work supporting the processing, preparation, and distribution of library materials for system-wide use. Verifies the accuracy of bibliographic and items records, applies labels and security devices, prepares materials for circulation, and performs quality control activities. Coordinates assigned processing workflows by organizing task assignments, tracking departmental data, and identifying operational issues requiring supervisory attention. Maintains inventory and departmental statistics, troubleshoots processing equipment and software, and assists staff with processing-related inquiries.\n\nMaterials Processing\nProcess traditional and non-traditional library materials by applying required labels, barcodes, security tags, and protective coverings to ensure proper handling, circulation and tracking.\nCreate spine labels and activate security tags.\nSort and organize completed materials for delivery and distribution.\nCatalog and Record Support and Maintenance\nUse the Intergrated Library System (ILS) to update, maintain and verify the accuracy of item records and to make minor edits to bibliographic records.\nInvestigate and resolve item record discrepancies and physical material issues for system staff, providing guidance and assistance as needed.\nAssist with departmental opening and closing procedures, including organizing materials, preparing work areas, and resolving misplaced items.\nQuality Control and Documentation\nProvide label corrections and perform quality assurance activities to maintain consistency and accuracy of processed materials.\nParticipate in the development, maintenance and updating of processing procedures and documentation to promote efficient and standardized workflows.\nCoordinate an internal secondary job team at the direction of supervisors, organizing task rotation and data entry.\nInput, maintain, and track departmental statistics.\nEquipment Support and Supply Handling\nTroubleshoot thermal printer issues and make minor adjustments to labeling software to support processing operations.\nRepackage audiovisual materials and prepare special orders, and reference materials for circulation.\nMaintain inventory and coordinate the ordering and replenishment of processing supplies and materials.\nOther duties as assigned.\n\nJob Requirements:\n\nHigh school diploma or equivalency\nMinimum of one (1) year of experience in office, customer service or libraries preferred.\nDemonstrated proficiency in standard Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.\n\n*Applicants for this position will remain in consideration for any Processor position within the next six months and do not need to reapply.*\n\nThis position closes on July 6, 2026.\n\nWe have a 14 step pay scale. Internal applicants starting pay varies based on their current step on the salary scale.
