Full Time Substance Use Counselor - SUD Residential Treatment Center
Evolutions Detox is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our clinical team. This role provides case management, Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) counseling, and recovery support services for clients experiencing substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders. The counselor will collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to support clients throughout their recovery journey and ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
Schedule: Full-Time, Monday – Friday
Pay: $25 – $30 per hour
Key Responsibilities
Orient newly assigned clients to program rules and expectations
Provide weekly individual AOD counseling and case management for assigned clients
Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with therapists
Facilitate 3–4 recovery-focused group sessions per week
Conduct screenings and intake assessments in accordance with IMS guidelines
Provide crisis intervention when needed
Coordinate services and provide referrals to community resources
Create weekly schedules with assigned clients
Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR within 24 hours of service delivery
Perform UA drug screenings and complete required documentation
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and clinical leadership regarding client care
Develop discharge and aftercare plans with the treatment team
Attend weekly clinical meetings, supervision sessions, and required trainings
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and professional ethical standards
Complete administrative tasks and other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Certification in substance use counseling through CCAPP, CAADE, CADTP, or a similar governing body
Knowledge of substance use disorders, treatment approaches, and co-occurring disorders
Understanding of detoxification and incidental medical services procedures
Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet documentation deadlines
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of direct client care experience in substance use treatment, mental health, or a related field preferred
Current CPR/First Aid Certification
Current TB test and health screening
Strong organizational and clinical documentation skills
