Temporary Physical Education Instructor
Temporary Physical Education (PE) Instructors at Cornell Physical Education provide in-person weekly instruction for students enrolled in a variety of PE courses. In this role, you will plan and lead lessons, manage class records, and communicate with students, fellow instructors, and PE & Recreation staff to promote healthy physical activity.
Duties & Responsibilities
Daily or weekly lesson planning.
Record keeping, including attendance, Canvas upkeep, and grading.
Email correspondence and communication with students and staff.
2‑4 hours of class instruction per week.
Pay & Benefits
Pay: $600–$1,200 per section. Positions are temporary, non‑benefits eligible, and do not qualify for visa sponsorship.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma with at least 2‑3 years of relevant experience.
Strong competency in the activity you will be teaching.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment.
Excellent customer service skills.
Strong organizational and communication skills (written and verbal).
Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, Google Drive, e‑mail, spreadsheets).
Related certifications (instructor certification, CPR/First Aid, etc.) if applicable.
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Experience working directly with people from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.
Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
Experience incorporating perspectives of multiple communities.
Preferred Qualifications
3‑5 years of teaching activity experience.
Advanced certification in your teaching area.
First Aid/CPR/AED certification.
