Since we were formed in August of 2016, we have supported multiple impactful and exciting government programs.\n\nJob Summary\nWe are seeking an experienced Senior Database Engineer with 8+ years of hands-on experience managing enterprise-scale databases in on-premises and cloud (AWS) environments. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in Oracle (19c, RAC, RDS), strong experience with AWS Database Migration Services (DMS), and growing or proven experience with PostgreSQL. This role is responsible for database architecture, migrations, performance tuning, security, disaster recovery, and operational support across production, UAT, and development environments.\n\nResponsibilities\nPlan, create, patch, upgrade, and maintain Oracle 19c databases (RAC, RDS, and standalone) across AWS Cloud, UNIX, and Windows platforms.\nDesign and execute AWS Database Migration Service (DMS) tasks to migrate on-premises Oracle databases to AWS RDS and support data replication between Oracle and SQL Server.\nInstall, configure, administer, and troubleshoot databases and associated cloud controls in on-premises and AWS environments.\nMigrate Oracle databases and cloud controls to new servers, including installation, patching, configuration, monitoring, and backup setup.\nConfigure Amazon SNS events and email notifications for database monitoring and alerts.\nUpgrade AWS DMS replication engines and proactively manage CA certificate renewals.\nProvide end-to-end database support for Production, UAT, and Development environments.\nAdminister and support Oracle Fusion Middleware and Oracle 11g Discoverer.\nPerform query tuning and performance optimization for complex SQL workloads.\nGenerate database reports and provide performance recommendations to development teams.\nPlan and coordinate database version upgrades and platform migrations.\nCreate, maintain, and execute Disaster Recovery (DR) plans, SOPs, and annual contingency tests with detailed documentation.\nEnsure database security and compliance through auditing, DBProtect scan reviews, and remediation of findings.\nManage ServiceNow incidents, requests, change tickets, and tasks in accordance with SLA requirements.\nRepresent the DBA team in project meetings, change control boards (CCB), incident calls (ICM), and vendor engagements.\nDevelop user manuals and procedural documentation for Help Desk and support teams.\nAssist with on-premises Oracle to PostgreSQL migrations to cloud platforms.\nAdminister, maintain, and optimize PostgreSQL databases, including creation and modification of database objects using DDL.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n8+ years of experience as a Database Engineer / DBA in enterprise environments.\nStrong expertise in Oracle Database Administration (19c, RAC, RDS).\nHands-on experience with AWS services, especially RDS, DMS, SNS, and cloud monitoring.\nProven experience migrating databases from on-premises to AWS Cloud.\nStrong SQL skills with experience in query tuning and performance optimization.\nExperience with PostgreSQL administration and optimization.\nExperience with backup, recovery, DR planning, and high availability architectures.\nFamiliarity with ITSM tools such as ServiceNow.\n\nPreferred Qualifications\nExperience in federal or highly regulated environments.\nKnowledge of Oracle OEM / cloud controls.\nExperience supporting multi-database platforms (Oracle, PostgreSQL, SQL Server).\nStrong documentation and communication skills.\n\nEducation\nBachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field (preferred)","company":"Techsur Solutions","rawCompany":"techsur solutions","city":"Reston","state":"VA","isRemote":false,"isActive":false,"createdAt":"2026-04-14T10:54:00.855Z","occupations":[{"code":"15-1242.00","title":"Database Administrators","slug":"database-administrators"},{"code":"15-1243.00","title":"Database Architects","slug":"database-architects"},{"code":"15-1243.01","title":"Data Warehousing Specialists","slug":"data-warehousing-specialists"}],"industries":[{"code":"541512","title":"Computer Systems Design Services","slug":"computer-systems-design-services"},{"code":"541511","title":"Custom Computer Programming Services","slug":"custom-computer-programming-services"},{"code":"513210","title":"Software Publishers","slug":"software-publishers"}],"jobPosting":{"@context":"https://schema.org","@type":"JobPosting","title":"Sr Database Engineer","description":"Job Title: Sr Database Engineer\nLocation: Reston, VA (Hybrid – 3x/Week)\nSalary: DOE + full benefits\nClearance: Active Public Trust (or ability to obtain)\n\nOverview:\nTechSur Solutions is a digital services company whose mission is to enable digital transformation for our customers to improve quality and efficiency.
