Senior Network EngineerFull Time, Honolulu, HI (Pacific Region)Secret ClearancePosition OverviewWe are seeking a Senior Network Engineer – Pacific Region to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in delivering secure, resilient, and high-performance network infrastructure across Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) throughout the Pacific.This position directly supports the Department of Defense medical mission by ensuring highly complex LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure is engineered, secured, optimized, and maintained in compliance with DoD, DHA, and DHA Pacific Regional Command objectives.The Senior Network Engineer serves as the regional technical authority and primary point of contact for advanced network engineering matters across Pacific-supported DHA facilities.Key ResponsibilitiesServe as the senior technical authority for LAN/WLAN/WAN network infrastructure across DHA medical facilities.Identify, research, and resolve complex network and routing protocol issues at all layers of the OSI model.Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise network systems.Act as the primary point of contact for:Network configuration managementCommunications interconnectionAddressing and multi-protocol routingNetwork management and optimizationUtilize enterprise tools including:Orion SolarWindsARMISAnsibleMonitor and optimize network performance using MIBs, MRTG, and related performance management methodologies.Establish and configure network security systems including:FirewallsVPN appliancesIntrusion Detection Systems (IDS)Maintain and enhance LAN/WLAN/WAN boundary protections to prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems.Develop, update, and enforce network standards in coordination with the Network Standards Team.Provide written technical recommendations, policy updates, and network enhancement documentation.Evaluate vendor products and recommend solutions aligned with DoD and DHA requirements.Advise and consult with Government personnel and contractor teams on network design, deployment, and optimization.Communicate status updates and technical findings to leadership, medical stakeholders, and technical teams.Lead and mentor Network Specialists and engineering personnel as required.Education & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical fieldMinimum 5 years of directly related experienceORCompletion of a certified Technical or Vocational School10 years of progressively complex, directly related experienceRequired QualificationsActive Secret Security ClearanceCompliance with DoD Directive 8570.01IAM Level III certification (or equivalent per DoD 8570.01-M)CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) – RequiredCisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – RequiredExperience supporting DoD Health Care Information SystemsAbility to perform duties of subordinate labor categories when required, including travelTechnical Expertise RequiredDemonstrated mastery of enterprise networking protocols and standards, including but not limited to:Protocols & ServicesTCP/IPHTTP / HTTPSSMTPSNMPDNS / DHCPRSTP / VRRPEIGRP / BGP / OSPFPPP / HDLCXDMBINDIEEE & Communications Standards802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w802.3, 802.3u, 802.3z802.5, 802.10, 802.11Network Environments & MediaEthernet / Fast Ethernet / Gigabit EthernetFDDI / ATMSynchronous and asynchronous communicationsV.35 / RS-449Routed, switched, and shared LAN environmentsLocal and long-haul WAN connectivitySystems & PlatformsMicrosoft Windows Server environmentsActive DirectoryUNIXOpenVMSEnterprise Cisco network infrastructureSolarWinds OrionTools & Testing EquipmentOptical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR)Cable testersNetwork analyzers/sniffersEIA/TIA cabling standardsDesiredExperience with Zero Trust Architectures and methodologiesCommunication RequirementsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAbility to effectively engage:Government leadershipMedical professionalsHighly technical engineering teamsExperience producing formal technical documentation, standards, and policy recommendationsAbout Semper Valens SolutionsSemper Valens Solutions, Inc.
