We design and manufacture drone-in-a-box systems that automate repetitive drone operations, taking humans out of the loop so the people who depend on aerial data can move faster. We're a small, agile team, we move fast, take on extreme ownership, and build products in months, not years.\nThe Role As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you'll own electrical components end-to-end — from architecture through schematic, layout, bring-up, and production. You'll drive RF design across our drone and dock platforms, write firmware for board bring-up and validation, and partner closely with our hardware team to ship products that work in the real world.\nResponsibilities Own the end-to-end design process for electrical subsystems — schematic, layout, bring-up, and validation\nDrive schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout in Altium\nLead RF design across drone and dock platforms\nWrite C/C++ firmware for board bring-up, diagnostics, and hardware validation\nDefine and execute verification, validation, and acceptance testing procedures for development and production hardware\nDrive root cause analysis on hardware issues and ship robust solutions\nPropose and validate system architecture decisions through simulation, calculation, and hands-on analysis\nWork cross-functionally with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing to ensure system-level performance\nRequirements Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field\n1-5 years of professional EE experience with a track record of products through a full development lifecycle\nExpert proficiency in Altium for schematic capture and multi-layer PCB layout\nDeep understanding of analog and digital circuit design, power electronics, and high-speed signal integrity\nHands-on RF design experience - antenna integration, impedance-controlled layout, link budget analysis, and bench testing with VNAs and spectrum analyzers\nProficiency in C/C++ for firmware development, particularly for board bring-up, diagnostics, and hardware validation\nStrong experience with simulation tools (e.g., SPICE) and analysis to support design decisions\nNice to Have Experience with low-power, long-range protocols like LoRa and Wi-Fi HaLow\nDirect experience taking products through FCC and equivalent international regulatory certification\nExpertise in embedded systems architecture with STM32 microcontrollers — peripheral configuration, power management, and debugging\nExperience with Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Test (DFT), and EMI/EMC pre-compliance\nUAV, robotics, aerospace, or defense industry background\nWhat We Offer Competitive salary and equity\nHealth, dental, and vision coverage\nThe chance to work on electrical hardware that controls physical systems in the field\nA small, technical team where your work ships and matters\nHex is an equal opportunity employer.
