The main responsibility of the Grocery Manager is to oversee associates, customer satisfaction and standards for the Grocery Department. In addition, the Grocery Manager plays a critical role in ensuring goals and metrics are consistently met throughout the department. We will be quick to respond to our customers and use "Red Truck Service" when additional assistance is needed.Work ExperienceDuties/ResponsibilitiesServe customers in the Grocery Department while modeling Sendik's culture and providing "best in class" customer service, which includes, greeting, engaging, delighting and thanking every guest for their businessProvide consistent, timely and friendly customer service when answering questions, making suggestions and resolving complaintsManage all areas of the Grocery Department, consistently leading by example and applying effective management techniquesEnsure that the Grocery Department is always full with the best quality productsMaintain department conditions, ensuring shelves are stocked, product is rotated and the department is clean and well organizedMaintain and update weekly reports (purchasing and inventory)Order inventory based on reports (shrink, overage, expired, etc.)Oversee, manage and train associates; including, but not limited to coaching, performance improvement, recognition, 1:1 meetings and feedbackCreate and maintain schedule; including schedule changes and time-off requestsWhen needed, act as a Manager on Duty, which includes, but is not limited to, managing all areas of the store, ensuring that areas of opportunity are addressed and handle opening and/or closing dutiesAssist with unloading daily deliveriesCreate attractive Grocery Department displays and end caps based on specific sales for the weekCommunicate with Store Director/Assistant Store Director in regards to department conditions, associate relations, department hiring needs, associate accidents and other concerns as neededAchieve budgeted financial goals and ensure profitability through the tracking of costs/sales and the execution of marketing plans, product promotions, product displays and cost control techniquesAttend store-level management meetingsParticipate in additional training and leadership activities as directedOperate, maintain and clean Grocery equipment including, u-boats, flat carts and pallet jacksMaintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to safety/sanitation regulations and proceduresAssist with all other Grocery Department duties as neededQualificationsMust be a minimum of 18 years of age due to required operation of equipmentPrior grocery experience as well as leadership experience is requiredAbility to successfully lead, coach, train, develop and motivate a teamAbility to provide clear direction and delegate responsibilities to a team after determining department needsStrong understanding of department financials and the ability to manage budgets to meet financial goalsStrong knowledge of local and state health, sanitation and safety regulationsAbility to quickly adapt to changing conditions, priorities and circumstancesAbility to maintain composure, meet deadlines and work effectively under pressureAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced environmentExcellent communication, organizational and planning skillsAbility to make independent decisions regarding department needs and prioritiesStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong sense of urgency, time management, prioritization and multitasking skillsStrong sense of team - ability to anticipate the needs of the teamStrong computer skills, working knowledge in Microsoft Office product suite and Google ProductsExcellent attention to detailExcellent problem-solving and conflict resolution skillsExceptional customer service skillsAbility to accommodate a fluctuating schedule, including evening, weekend and holiday shiftsAbility to stand, walk, lift, bend, push/pull for extended periods of timeAbility to lift up to 50 pounds
