Intake Therapist

Primary Purpose and Function Responsible for conducting in-depth psychosocial intake assessments for potential new patients, ensuring new admission suitability, and communicating relevant information about new admissions to the clinical treatment team. Required Qualifications: Requires Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related fieldWashington State provisional license (LICSWA, LMHCA, LMFTA,) or license-eligible if out-of-stateMinimum one (1) yearsprior experience in social service and/or direct experience with clinical populations and professional experience working with mental health patients and their families in a behavioral healthtrainingDemonstratedcompetencyin the use of Microsoft Office and theability to use various software programsExperience and literacy with Electronic Medical Records systems medical practice softwareAbility to work evenings, nights, weekends & holidays as needed Preferred QualificationsWashington State Independent Licensure (PhD, PsyD, LICSW, LMHC, LMFT)Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and/or Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) training and experienceExperience conducting psychosocial assessments for anxiety, depression and/or eating disorder patientsExperience working in PHP, IOP, or IPU environment(s)Healthcare administration, marketing, or general administrative experience Addendum A: Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities Regularly conduct in-depth psychosocial intake assessments, evaluate a patient's appropriateness for our programs, refer to more appropriate facilities or providers as neededRegularly conduct phone screens for prospective patients, evaluate a patient's appropriateness for an in-person intake assessment at THIRA; refer to more appropriate facilities or providers as neededConduct new patient orientation including completion of orientation paperwork; formal review of program rules, guidelines, expectations; and patient financial commitments as neededPerform pre-authorizations with relevant third-party payors for all new patients prior to admission; support ongoing U/R authorization efforts as neededUtilize Electronic Medical Record to complete clinical documentation in a timely mannerTrack patient admission status/data in all relevant trackers, communicate as needed with patients on the waitlistOversee and delegate the collection and maximum completion of FMLA, home, hospital, school, and other coordination of care documentation prior to admissionReview and interpret medical records sent from referring providers to assess prospective patient suitability for THIRA programsLiaise with families/supporters prior to intake, during assessment, and prior to program start to answer/delegate answers to questions, concerns, etc.Liaise with outside providers and ouroutreach teamto enhance professional relations and resourcesEffectively market programs and treatment model to prospective patients, outside referrers,etc.Coordinate with administrative and clinical staff to schedule intake assessments, new patient pretreatments, orientation dates and start dates Addendum B: General Responsibilities & Expectations Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsSupport and maintain policies regarding professional ethics, including appropriate boundaries and client confidentiality; monitor documents according to company and HIPAA policiesReport any immediate safety hazards to appropriate supervisory personnel or maintenance personnel.Adhere toWA StateRequirements for Mandated ReportingDemonstrate awareness and respect for diverseclients and staffAdheres to THIRA Health's compliance standards, Ethicsand Code of Conduct Policy and Conflict of Interest PolicyAttend and actively participate in all required THIRA meetings,training, and all other coverage, duties, andspecial projects as assignedDemonstrated abilityto exercise discretion and judgement with sensitive and confidential matters, including PII, PHI, and HIPAA requirementsDemonstrated abilitytomulti-taskDemonstrated ability to workin a fast-paced environment with limited supervisionMaintain focus on THIRA's core principles, priorities, and patient-centered cultureEffectivelycommunicate with alllevels of staff, visitors, healthcare professionals, marketers, and the public in a professional, sensitive, and interpersonal manner Working Environment Work is performed primarily indoors, with both artificial and natural lighting. Equipment includes standard office equipment, i.e., computer, telephone, fax machine, copier, printer, and scanner. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending over, repetitive use of hands, and lifting up to 25lbs. Position requires close contact with all THIRA Health staff and mental health patients. Hours and days can vary within a Saturday through Friday work week.
