This role focuses on integrating various data sources into Confluent (Kafka) and Elastic platforms, developing robust integration solutions, and contributing to data governance practices.\r\nPrimary Responsibilities\r\nDesign and implement integration solutions for the GAINS project using Kafka, Elastic, and Databricks.\r\nIntegrate data sources into Confluent (Kafka), Elastic and Databricks platforms; develop Kafka system integrations between Elasticsearch/Logstash and other systems.\r\nDesign custom connectors and use ksqlDB and Kafka Streams for data processing.\r\nDeploy and manage Kafka clusters on Kubernetes in multi-site environments (both on-premise and cloud).\r\nAutomate the full software lifecycle, from design and development to testing and deployment, including production environments.\r\nBuild application deployment pipelines, including containerized environments using Kubernetes and Docker, and automated testing pipelines.\r\nBasic Qualifications\r\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related discipline, with 4 years of prior relevant experience; or Master's with 2 years of prior relevant experience.\r\nExperience: 4+ years of combined experience in Kafka, Java, RESTful services, AWS, and full stack development.\r\nProgramming: Python, Java, SQL, working knowledge of HTML and JavaScript.\r\nSearch & Analytics: Experience with BI tools like Kibana, and technologies such as Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kafka, NiFi, and Databricks.\r\nEvent Streaming & Integration: Advanced understanding of event streaming and Kafka integration.\r\nApplication Integration: Experience designing application integration and strong communication skills for collaboration with virtual teams.\r\nSoftware Design: Experience developing detailed software designs, particularly in ksql or kstreams.\r\nSoftware Development Lifecycle: Proficiency in following a software development lifecycle and maintaining production-quality code.\r\nVersion Control: Experience with distributed version control such as Git and Bitbucket.\r\nSoftware Development on UNIX command line platform.\r\nDocumentation: Develop DoD requirements, traceability, detailed plans/schedules, and interface documents (IDDs/ICDs).\r\nSecurity Clearance: Active Secret, Interim Secret or higher DOD security clearance.\r\nCertification: Ability to obtain Security+ certification or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT II certification within 30 days (or 14 days as originally stated).\r\nLocation: Ability to reside within driving distance of Fort Meade, Scott AFB or Hill AFB; remote work potential exists.\r\nPreferred Qualifications\r\nText Mining & ELK Stack experience for summarization, search and entity extraction.\r\nCI/CD & DevOps: Familiarity with CI/CD techniques, containerized pipelines, and DevOps practices.\r\nKubernetes & Agile: Familiarity with Kubernetes deployment, Agile methodologies and Agile tools.\r\nCloud Expertise: Familiarity with AWS GovCloud, networking and security policies.\r\nCross-Team Collaboration: Experience working within a matrixed organization and collaborating with project leadership.\r\nSystem Architecture & Operational Stability: Knowledge of system architecture, networks and centralized logging (ELK).\r\nDoD Experience: Experience developing and deploying software in DoD environments (DISA experience is a plus), including STIG compliance.\r\nAgile Processes: Experience with Agile methodologies, Atlassian tools (JIRA, Confluence).\r\nCertifications: Certified Confluent Developer and Certified Elastic Engineer.\r\nRemote Work: Experience working remotely with geographically dispersed teams.\r\nCommunication: Excellent communication and collaboration skills, engaging with customers, stakeholders and team members.\r\nEEO Statement\r\nAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to sex, race, ethnicity, age, national origin, citizenship, religion, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, pregnancy, family structure, marital status, ancestry, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, veteran or military status, or any other basis prohibited by law.
