Position Summary
The HRIS / Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate, timely, and compliant processing of bi-weekly payroll and for the ongoing administration and support of the Human Resources Information System (HRIS). This role plays a critical onsite presence, supporting employees across all shifts in a 24/7 manufacturing environment through payroll execution, system integrity, onboarding logistics, and operational HR support. While payroll and HRIS are the primary focus, the role also provides hands-on administrative support to ensure smooth day-to-day HR operations, escalating employee relations matters to HR leadership as appropriate.
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll
Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payroll using Ceridian Dayforce and IFS for multi-site, multi-shift operations
Audit timekeeping, shift premiums, differentials, overtime, and pay codes supporting 24/7 schedules
Manage payroll corrections, off-cycle payrolls, and year-end activities (W-2s, reconciliations)
Serve as the primary point of contact for routine payroll questions and issue resolution
Partner with Finance on payroll reconciliation and reporting
HRIS
Maintain and administer employee data in Ceridian Dayforce and IFS, ensuring data accuracy and system integrity
Support HRIS configuration, testing, reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives across HR, Payroll, Time & Attendance, and Benefits modules
Assist with audits, compliance reporting, and data requests
Support HR process automation and system enhancements
Benefits Administration
Support day-to-day benefits administration, including enrollments, life events, eligibility updates, and terminations
Assist employees with routine benefits questions and navigation, escalating complex issues as needed
Support open enrollment activities, including system setup, employee communications, and validation of elections
Partner with HR and vendors to ensure accurate benefits data, billing, and reconciliation
Maintain benefits-related records and ensure compliance documentation is complete and accurate
General HR & Office Support (Operational Focus)
Provide onsite HR support for employees working 24/7 shift schedules, serving as a point of contact for routine HR, payroll, benefits, and system-related needs
Support new hire onboarding logistics, including preparing onboarding packets, coordinating start-day activities, and ensuring system access is established
Complete and maintain employment documentation, including I-9 verification, personnel files, and compliance records
Coordinate badge access and basic facility access needs in partnership with IT.
Assist with employee data changes in Dayforce and IFS related to job changes, status updates, and corrections
Support administrative and office coordination tasks that keep daily operations running smoothly across both facilities (ordering lunches, supplies, setting up conference rooms, general office appearance items)
Escalate employee relations matters, policy interpretation questions, or sensitive issues to HR leadership as appropriate
Required Qualifications:
Associate’s Degree in HR, Business Administration or related field (experience in lieu of degree is acceptable)
3+ years of experience in payroll, HRIS, and/or benefits administration in Minnesota
Hands-on experience with Ceridian Dayforce (or other applicable software), particularly Payroll
Experience supporting hourly and salaried employees in a 24/7 or shift-based operation
Working knowledge of payroll, benefits, and wage & hour compliance
High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in HR, Business Administration or related field
Experience supporting benefits administration and open enrollment
Manufacturing or medical device environment experience
HR/Payroll/Benefits-related certification
Experience with IFS
Compensation and Benefits Overview
Starting Pay Range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 annually.
Minimum pay rates offered will comply with applicable county or city regulations if they exceed the listed range. Actual pay rates are determined based on various factors, including but not limited to, local labor market conditions, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, foreign language proficiency, and other job-specific qualifications.
