Senior Instructional Designer
Position Summary
The Senior Instructional Designer consults on the analysis, design, and development of training solutions that will address the needs of JetBlue corporate and operational Crewmembers, while fulfilling Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requirements for regulatory and non-regulatory training programs when applicable. As part of this role, the Senior Instructional Designer manages client and business partner relationships, designs highly effective training and performance support materials based off sound learning principles, and manages projects effectively. This involves partnering with Business Partners, Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), and designated leads using consulting skills to perform needs analysis, select the right delivery option(s), design the solution, and support corporate-wide training initiatives. The Senior Instructional Designer should also be able to develop online or print-based instructional materials to adhere to internal Style & Brand guidelines.
Essential Responsibilities
Leads the analysis and design phases of new programs and training initiatives
Leads instructional design consultation discussions, including intake discussions, with Leadership, JetBlue University (JBU) colleges, SMEs (Subject Matter Experts), project leads, and Business Partners for training needs during all phases of learning solution development
Performs varied analyses to determine performance gaps and job tasks that require instructional intervention
Consults with learning data analytics team to determine measurement strategy and impact of training solutions
Works independently or with peers to design and develop end-to-end training or performance support solutions across multiple platforms
Develops and maintains all aspects of large-scale project plans and project documentation using Workfront
Partners with the other Learning Design peers to effectively support, influence, and contribute to all phases of Learning Design including analysis, content development, release, support, evaluation and revision cycle
Works within, suggests, and promotes the guidelines and recommendations for processes and procedures related to design, development, and courseware implementation
Provides quality assurance on developed content, pending project size, type, and criticality
Establishes and communicates guidelines and recommendations for processes and procedures related to Instructional Design
Proactively conducts peer mentoring or training on topics related to Instructional Design
Develops and maintains relationships with Business Partners who may assist with the development of training solutions, which may include the selection of Business Partners in partnership with the JetBlue’s sourcing team
Works with Leadership and peers to design, support, and maintain strategic initiatives including but not limited to: new program development, program evaluation, course maintenance, and process documentation
Keeps abreast of new and developing trends in training and adult learning, applies them to Learning Design initiatives, and creates opportunities to develop others (peers, faculty, SMEs, etc.) in these areas
Contributes to the immediate and long-term vision of the Learning Design team; researching, implementing, training and developing using the guidelines provided by leadership

Minimum Experience and Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field; OR demonstrated capability to perform job responsibilities with a combination of a High School Diploma/GED and at least four (4) years of previous related work experience
Three (3) years’ experience in a field related to adult learning, instructional design, professional development, curriculum development, or performance improvement
Two (2) years of experience leading or managing projects with multiple stakeholders
Experience consulting with clients to determine the best instructional solutions and/or strategies
Experience managing large projects with multiple stakeholders
Experience building and maintaining all aspects of project plans in project management software such as Workfront or MS Project
Experience using data to help inform training decisions
Ability to research, analyze, and synthesize information/data and provide appropriate recommendations for learning solutions
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including a strong attention to detail
Proficient with Microsoft Office suite and SharePoint
Agile and flexible to manage and contribute to multiple tasks simultaneously
Ability to work well with others as part of a team
Ability to work well under pressure, meet deadlines and adapt quickly to changing information and priorities
Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
Must be legally eligible to work in the country in which the position is located
Authorization to work in the US is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship
Preferred Experience and Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Instructional Design or related field
Five (5) years’ experience with adult learning, instructional design, professional development, curriculum development, or performance improvement
Airline industry experience
Demonstrated experience leading projects and managing stakeholders
Demonstrated ability to guide the development of others
Experience managing Business Partner relationships
Awareness and understanding of FAA regulations
Experience working in learning development tools, such as Articulate Studio or Storyline

Potential need to work flexible hours and be available to respond on short-notice
Able to maintain a professional appearance
When working or traveling on JetBlue flights, and if time permits, all capable crewmembers are asked to assist with light cleaning of the aircraft
