The engineer will work closely with engineering, electrical, mechanical, and construction teams throughout equipment upgrades and installations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDevelop, modify, troubleshoot, and validate PLC programs for manufacturing equipment and automation systems.\n\nProgram and support PLC platforms including Allen-Bradley/Rockwell, Mitsubishi, Siemens, Yaskawa, and Toyopuc.\n\nDevelop and modify HMI programs using GP-Pro software on Pro-face hardware.\n\nDevelop and modify Safety PLC programs.\n\nCreate and modify electrical hardware layouts, panel layouts, and field device layouts using AutoCAD Electrical.\n\nPerform project risk assessments related to equipment selection, hardware procurement, and installation schedules.\n\nSupport and supervise equipment installation activities involving engineers, electricians, and millwrights.\n\nTroubleshoot and resolve electrical, controls, mechanical, and construction-related issues during installation.\n\nProvide full-line commissioning support before, during, and after press upgrade projects.\n\nParticipate in equipment reviews and customer buyoffs.\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, technician degree, or equivalent relevant work experience.\n\nPLC programming experience – required.\n\nExperience with Rockwell/Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi, and/or Siemens PLCs strongly preferred.\n\nExperience with AutoCAD Electrical.\n\nElectrical hardware design and modification experience.\n\nExperience with industrial equipment demolition, installation, and commissioning.\n\nStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.\n\nAbility to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.\n\nStrong written and verbal communication skills.\n\nAbility to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.\n\nAbility to travel and work in Canada and Mexico.\n\nFlexibility to work weekends and holidays when project schedules require it.\n\nPreferred Experience\n\nCandidates with experience in the following areas will be particularly well suited for this position:\n\nAutomotive manufacturing\n\nStamping press controls and automation\n\nMechanical or hydraulic power presses\n\nAllen-Bradley / Rockwell Studio 5000\n\nSiemens PLC programming\n\nSafety PLC systems\n\nHMI development\n\nIndustrial electrical design\n\nEquipment installation and startup\n\nManufacturing line commissioning\n\nLeading or supervising skilled trades during equipment installations\n\nIdeal Candidate\n\nThe ideal candidate is a hands-on Controls Engineer who is comfortable moving between PLC programming, electrical design, field installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning.
