Currently being run by the 4th genera\\uDBC0\\uDD9Fon of Schroeders. We are currently looking for\nDiesel Mechanics. Monday through Friday work week, Union wages and Benefits via Machinist District 9.\nDu\\uDBC0\\uDD9Fes & Responsibilities:\nConsulting the customer and reading work orders to evaluate the tasks required\nPreparing work plans after fully scoping out the issues\nRunning diagnostic tests on diesel engines and interpreting the results to offer suitable solutions\nInspecting vehicle systems, including suspensions, steering and exhausts\nRepairing or replacing vehicle transmissions, brakes, engines, and other associated parts\nConducting field visits in the case of an emergency or sudden breakdown\nTest driving repaired vehicles to gauge their performance\nCompleting oil changes, coolant service, AC evaluation, and brake checks\nMaintaining records of parts inventory and serviced vehicles\nEnsure the job area is organized and clean, including mee\\uDBC0\\uDD9Fng necessary standards for waste disposal and environmental protection.\nJob Requirements:\nAt least 4 years of diesel or heavy equipment maintenance and repair experience. (Preferred)\nAdvanced knowledge of a vehicle, its electrical system, and the mechanisms of a diesel engine (Hi rail\nand hydraulic knowledge is Preferred)\nIn-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms\nSuperior knowledge of maintenance tools and repair equipment\nComfortable using mechanical and electrical power tools\nExcellent problem-solving skills\nKeen attention to detail\nBasic knowledge of computer systems and other relevant electronics (MaxxTraxx knowledge is\npreferred)\nProficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic so\\uDBC0\\uDD4Cware\nA valid driver’s license (CDL strongly preferred)\nGood interpersonal skills\nEffective collaboration and communication skills\nMust furnish own tools.\nPhysical Requirements:\nWork inside an open floor plan shop\nDaily exposure to dirt, oils, smells, and sounds, related to standard mechanics’ shop.\nMust be able to li\\uDBC0\\uDD4C, handle, meet ladder safety requirements.\nMust be able to li\\uDBC0\\uDD4C 50+ lbs. regularly.\nMust be able to work at heights of 0-20 ft.\nMust be able to bend, stand, sit, crawl, lay, climb, and li\\uDBC0\\uDD4C throughout each day.\nRequired to stand, walk, and sit frequently.
