The Site Safety Manager will monitor the onsite activities to ensure that all work is conducted safely and efficiently. The Site Safety Manager will work with the Project Manager and Superintendent on the project to help lead the project team to establishing and maintaining a strong safety culture driven around company values, best practice safety management systems, strong communication, personal accountability, people development and authentic engagement.Essential FunctionsCoordinate / Assist with jobsite orientation and safety trainingLead site supervisors in the enforcement of safety standard according to IIPPAssist / Coordinate subcontractor compliance with jobsite safety regulations and requirementsLead incident investigations and provide reports. Ensure follow up by project team to make sure corrective action has been takenAssist with / coordinate weekly Tool box meetings with site supervisorsEnsure Project Safety Plan is in place, roles defined, and action plans establishedCoordinate Emergency Response and ensure employees receive medical treatmentMaintain jobsite postings in accordance with OSHA/Cal-OSHA regulationsLead / conduct site safety audits in accordance with Project Safety PlanEnsure operations comply with CA MUTCD and temporary traffic control plansAssist Project Manager with submittalsProvide daily report and document daily safety inspections of the jobsiteAssist with ensuring company compliance with Dig Alert (811) ground disturbance tickets/permits in accordance with CA GC4216Maintain and update logs on projectsProvide safety and security material to personnelAssist in the procurement, distribution and training with PPEAttend monthly safety meetings held by the Owner/AgencyPerform testing on noise, air flow and air quality, and also keep record of the testingOther duties as assignedSpecific Job Knowledge, Skill and AbilityThe individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.Minimum of 10 years of heavy construction experienceMinimum of 5 years of Safety experience in a construction industry as a safety professional or supervisor with safety responsibility. Airport construction strongly desiredCertified in OSHA 30-hour Construction (Valid, unexpired OSHA 30 card)Certified OSHA 10 Hour and 30 Hour Outreach Instructor requiredFirst aid CPR training required; trainer preferredAbility to demonstrate working knowledge of excavations, confined spaces, fall protection, hazard communication, crane & rigging operations, concrete and asphalt paving, and the ability to conduct awareness level training for each disciplineHave working knowledge of Causal Analysis methodsHave solid interpersonal skills, must be able to work well with the construction project site team, owners and construction management firmsModerate Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point, and WordEfficient recordkeeping and submittals of required project safety documentationPhysical RequirementsSitting during study periods, meetings, seminars and training sessions. Seeing and observing at close proximity detailed technical specifications and at a distance in observing and making visual assessments at job sitesAbility to lift/carry up to 50lbsWalking job sites and other locations including excavations, scaffolds, roofs and elevated platforms to observe the work. Listening to conversations and responses at job sites, job offices and other locations where noise levels are present. Using phones, radios and hand signals Lifting and carrying of training and clerical materials and safety equipment. Ability to safely operate a vehicle to travel to job site visits and attend meetings on behalf of the company. Good driving record requiredJob involves exposure to all weather conditions for extended periods including hot, cold, wet and humid conditions as well as exposure to high noise levels and working in elevated or excavated areas.
