OPD's industry experience, flexibility, and personal attention have made us a preferred partner to our customers and our tight knit, highly productive, team atmosphere makes OPD a great place to work.\nWhat You Will Do\nSome core responsibilities for a Pipefitter Helper include:\n\nAssisting pipefitter with setting, assembling, and installing pipe.\nPossess knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc, as required.\nPrepare pipe and fittings for hoisting and rigging\nBeing familiar with different types of metals\nLocate and mark bending and cutting lines of the metal.\nClean work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary\nOperate tools and equipment including: beveling machines, cut-off grinders, hammers, torches, magnetic drills, welding machines, and a Saw-Zall.\nAbility to work safely and accurately.\nWe expect all field employees to:\n\nActively participate in a strong safety culture\nRecognize safety hazards and risks\nParticipate in onsite safety meetings\nFollow OPD and client safety policies and procedures\nBe aware of changing conditions on an active jobsite\nBe on time to the jobsite each day ready for work\nDisplay a positive attitude and be able to work in a team environment\nHigh attention to detail to avoid reworks and errors\nSome physical demands of being a pipefitter helper include:\n\nCapable of working in outdoor weather and environmental conditions including extreme heat and humidity, extreme cold, and high elevations.\nLifting and carrying awkward objects up to 60 lbs\nStanding for extended periods of time up to 12 hours per day.\nMoving the entire body. Considerable use of arms, legs, climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, crawling, twisting, reaching, and bending on a regular basis.\nMust be able to work on elevated platforms and maintain balance when stepping on narrow platforms such as beams and pipes. Must be able to perform these activities while wearing an approved full-body harness and lanyard.\nUse hands to handle, control, and feel objects and/or tools.\nWho You Are (Basic Qualifications)\n6 months previous experience working in an industrial environment\nPast exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.\nOther Job Requirements:\n\nTravel is a must with extended periods away from home in remote areas at times.\nMust be willing and able to work shifts up to 12 hours per day and 7 days per week.\nMust be willing and able to meet all physical demands of the job.\nMust be able and willing to attend mandatory safety meetings.\nWhat Will Put You Ahead\n\n6+ months working as a pipefitter helper\nPrevious experience reading ISO's and drawings\nPast exposure to different metals and knowledge of pipe fittings, bolts, valves, etc.\nExperience in a gas plant construction environment\nAt Koch companies, we are entrepreneurs.
