Astranis designs, builds, and operates its satellites out of its 153,000 sq. ft. headquarters in Northern California, USA.\nSoftware Engineer - Backend\nAs a Software Engineer on the Platform team, you'll design and build services that autonomously control satellites, monitor telemetry for anomalies, and provide real-time situational awareness to keep our fleet safe and online. You'll also be building the core components and services that power the rest of our software organization, enabling every team to move faster and more reliably.\nYou will be shaping the foundation of software that has to work flawlessly – because our satellites depend on it.\nThis role will contribute to both our commercial and US government programs.\nRole\nDesign and build high-performance, reliable, mission-critical software that is used to send commands to space\nTake full ownership of features, working across backend and infrastructure\nCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams to define software requirements, architectures, and designs\nContinuously assess the evolving tech landscape and advocate for innovations that will improve our system\nMentor teammates, share knowledge, and help raise the technical bar\nRequirements\n0-5 years of professional experience as a software engineer\nBachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field\nStrong proficiency in Python\nExperience with distributed systems and microservice architectures\nExperience and understanding of databases (Postgres, etc)\nExperience and understanding of pub/sub and streaming systems (RabbitMQ, Flink, etc)\nTrack record of delivering high-impact features and improvements in a collaborative environment\nBonus\nExperience with Kubernetes\nExperience introducing metrics and monitoring to increase system stability\nProficiency in C++, Go, Rust\nExperience building fleet management systems\nU.S. Citizenship, Lawful Permanent Residency, or Refugee/Asylee Status Required\n(To comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the United States, or other protected individual as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3))\nOur mission and our products are meant to connect the world and everyone in it, regardless of gender, race, creed, or any other distinction.
