Manager","description":"Job purpose\n\nThe FSQA Manager must have a thorough knowledge and understanding of food manufacturing, processes, and procedures, and thorough knowledge and understanding of microbiology and raw material programs to assess and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced environment.\n\nDuties and responsibilities\n\nThe FSQA Manager will be responsible for managing the plant's Food Safety and Quality Assurance programs and ensuring compliance with company, customer and government procedures\nResponsible for the development and direction of the food safety team at the plant level\nThis role will be inspecting and auditing the operation in all phases of quality performance (raw materials, production, packaging, distribution, HACCP, GMP's, etc.)\nCarry out quality policies, procedures, and directives in the development of and compliance with company, customer, and government expectations while providing feedback and required follow up to ensure proper corrective action\nServes as the designated SQF Practitioner, responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and verification of the site’s SQF Food Safety and Quality Management System.\nDevelop and maintain HACCP plan and train plant personnel on quality programs\nCommunicates to regulatory agencies regarding compliance to local and federal requirements and inspections\nDevelop and maintain quality systems/programs such as Pest Control, Self-Inspection, Supplier Management, Safety, Microbial testing, Food Defense and Allergen Control\nConduct pre-shipment review, CCP's, validation studies, report on deficiencies for GMP's, HACCP and SSOP's\nPerform microbiological tests on finished products, environmental and direct food contact surfaces\nApply total quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department\nDirect inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products\nInvestigate and respond to customer complaints\nImplement changes (if necessary) and write corrective actions for complaints\nWork with Plant manager and Sanitation manager to ensure proper housekeeping and maintenance of facility, equipment, and grounds\nWork with vendors to ensure quality of all purchased products, associated equipment and materials meet established quality standards\nLead initiatives aimed at improving product quality, reducing waste, and increasing efficiency.\nIdentify potential risks in the production process and develop mitigation strategies to prevent quality issues.\n\nQualifications\n\nThorough knowledge and understanding of food manufacturing, processes, and procedures, and thorough knowledge and understanding of microbiology and raw material programs to assess and make appropriate decisions in a fast-paced environment\nStrong ability to demonstrate leadership skills for building a strong department as well as supporting existing programs and creating new ones\nStrong project management skills with experience leading quality improvement projects in the confectionery industry.\nGood computer skills, analytical skills and excellent knowledge of food-processing equipment\nExcellent team development and motivational skills\nKnowledge of quality control processes related to the food-processing industry\nKnowledge of quality process control and HACCP, SSOP and SOP\nKnowledge of USDA and FDA standards\nSelf-starter, motivator, goal-oriented and a strategic thinker\nGood organizational and communication skills both verbally and written\nIdentifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations\nBachelor's degree from four-year accredited College or university\nFive plus years of quality control experience; in a food-manufacturing environment\nStrong knowledge of Microsoft Excel\nMust be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.\n\nWorking conditions\nMust be able to work any/all shifts as directed\nMust be able to work overtime as necessary, including Holidays and/or weekends\nStanding/walking for long period of time\nMust be an avid Safety Champion and adhere to all safety programs and procedures\n\nPhysical requirements\nA non-slip resistant work shoe: steel toe when job requires\nPre-shift stretch and exercises to be performed\nHair restraint, beard net (if needed), and Safety gloves as needed\nAll required PPEs are worn properly when working with equipment or chemicals that require personal protection\nPosition requires the ability to: stand, sit at a desk, walking around the facility, lifting and carrying
