Headquartered in Iowa, Mid-States Companies is committed to delivering exceptional service and building professional relationships that exceed customer expectations.OverviewThe Assistant Project Manager supports the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects with a focus on budgets, schedules, safety, and quality. This role works closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams, including finance, design, field operations, and manufacturing to help ensure projects are delivered successfully.Key ResponsibilitiesProject Coordination & ExecutionAssist with pre-construction planning by coordinating with design, field operations, and manufacturing teams on scheduling and resource allocationTrack and maintain project data, including job costs, labor hours, materials, and deliveriesSupport cost tracking and change order management in collaboration with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely billingCommunicate daily with superintendents, field teams, and subcontractors to monitor schedules and progressHelp align field activities with project timelines using project management toolsCoordinate across departments to keep projects progressing efficientlyAdministrative SupportReview and validate project labor hours and supporting documentation for accuracy and complianceMonitor daily field reports and progress updates to track performance and schedulesAssist with purchasing activities through the company's ERP system in alignment with approved vendorsMaintain organized project documentation and recordsCustomer & Team CommunicationBuild and maintain strong customer relationships through consistent communication and follow-upSupport customer interactions during both estimating and active project phasesAssist in coordinating and participating in internal and customer-facing project status meetingsSafety & QualityPromote and support compliance with OSHA, company, and customer safety standardsAssist with project commissioning and closeout processesHelp ensure projects meet quality standards and that all documentation and approvals are completedQualificationsRequiredAssociate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)2–5+ years of experience in construction, project coordination, or a related fieldAbility to read, write, and communicate effectively in EnglishStrong math skills (basic arithmetic, fractions, and decimals)Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project)Strong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to collaborate effectively across multiple teamsBasic understanding of construction processes and terminologyStrong communication and problem-solving skillsPreferredExperience supporting Project Managers or managing small projectsExposure to agricultural construction or equipment installationExperience with Acumatica ERP systemAbility to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
