This position will oversee commissioning activities from planning and construction through testing, startup, integrated systems testing, closeout, and final turnover.\n\nThe ideal candidate will have extensive experience with hyperscale or mission-critical data centers and a strong background in MEP systems, commissioning, construction coordination, and field leadership. This individual will work closely with owners, general contractors, design teams, subcontractors, trade partners, and other project stakeholders to ensure MEP systems are installed, tested, commissioned, and turned over in accordance with project requirements.\n\nPrimary responsibilities will include but are not limited to:\n\nLead and coordinate Level 0–5 commissioning activities across the full MEP/site scope.\nManage commissioning activities from project planning and construction through functional testing, integrated systems testing, and final turnover.\nDevelop, manage, and maintain MEP commissioning schedules, milestones, and deliverables.\nCoordinate commissioning activities with the overall construction schedule and site logistics.\nWork closely with the owner, general contractor, design team, subcontractors, and trade partners to achieve project milestones.\nManage and coordinate subcontractors and trade partners supporting MEP installation, testing, and commissioning.\nParticipate in inspections, quality control activities, system readiness reviews, and commissioning meetings.\nReview MEP submittals, drawings, specifications, RFIs, and other project documentation.\nDevelop, track, review, and execute MOPs (Method of Procedure) and commissioning-related procedures.\nCoordinate QA/QC activities and ensure deficiencies are documented, tracked, and resolved.\nTrack CFCI/OFCI equipment and materials through installation, testing, and turnover.\nCoordinate asset tagging and equipment documentation.\nManage commissioning documentation, test records, punch lists, deficiency logs, and turnover packages.\nSupport startup, testing, and commissioning of HVAC, chilled water, electrical infrastructure, and other critical MEP systems.\nIdentify potential commissioning, construction, schedule, and system-related issues and coordinate corrective actions.\nMonitor project progress and communicate risks, schedule impacts, and commissioning readiness to project stakeholders.\nCoordinate closeout activities and final turnover of MEP systems to the owner.\nEnsure commissioning activities are completed in accordance with project specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, and owner expectations.\nSupport the successful delivery of complex data center projects measured in megawatts and large square footage.\nMaintain strong communication and collaboration between the owner, GC, design team, commissioning team, and field personnel.\nIdeal Background\n\nEducation: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent education and extensive relevant industry experience may be considered.\n\nRegistration:\n\nProfessional Engineer (PE), Certified Commissioning Professional (CCP), CxA, or other relevant commissioning or industry certification is preferred but not required.\n\nExperience:\n\nMinimum of 8 years of MEP and/or data center commissioning experience.\nDemonstrated experience working on hyperscale, mission-critical, or large-scale data center projects.\nExperience leading or managing the full MEP/site scope of a project.\nExperience with ground-up data center construction.\nExperience with data center fit-outs, expansions, renovations, or upgrades.\nDemonstrated experience with Level 0–5 commissioning.\nExperience managing large projects measured in MW and significant square footage.\nExperience working directly for or alongside large General Contractors.\nStrong experience with HVAC and mechanical systems.\nDemonstrated experience with chilled water systems.\nStrong understanding of electrical infrastructure and critical power systems.\nExperience coordinating MEP construction, commissioning, startup, testing, and turnover activities.\nExperience managing subcontractors, trade partners, and multiple project stakeholders.\nExperience with MOP development, tracking, and execution.\nExperience with QA/QC, inspections, submittal review, RFI review, deficiency tracking, closeout, and turnover.\n\nRequired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:\n\nStrong knowledge of MEP systems and data center commissioning processes.\nStrong understanding of HVAC, chilled water, mechanical, and electrical infrastructure.\nKnowledge of Level 0–5 commissioning methodologies and testing requirements.\nAbility to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and project documentation.\nStrong understanding of MEP construction sequencing and commissioning readiness requirements.\nAbility to manage project schedules, milestones, and commissioning deliverables.\nAbility to develop, review, and execute MOPs and commissioning procedures.\nStrong knowledge of QA/QC processes and deficiency management.\nAbility to review submittals and RFIs and identify potential impacts to commissioning and project execution.\nAbility to effectively coordinate subcontractors, trade partners, owners, GCs, design teams, and commissioning teams.\nStrong organizational and project management skills.\nExcellent written and verbal communication skills.\nStrong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.\nAbility to identify project risks and develop effective solutions.\nAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, construction-oriented environment.\nAbility to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail.\nProficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications and project management/commissioning software as required.\n\nPhysical Requirements:\n\nAbility to work in active construction and data center environments.\nAbility to walk and work throughout large construction sites for extended periods.\nAbility to climb stairs and ladders and access mechanical and electrical equipment areas.\nAbility to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and maneuver around construction and equipment areas.\nAbility to lift and carry in excess of 25 lbs.\nAbility to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).\nAbility to work in varying environmental conditions, including construction areas with noise, dust, heat, and other site conditions.\nAbility to travel to project sites as required.\n\nHargrove Culture\n\nWe work to create an environment founded on trust, personal integrity, and a “team mentality” so that each person understands the value of their contributions both on a project and company-wide level.
