This position helps ensure compliance with OSHA, company safety policies, and facility maintenance standards and promotes a safe, clean and efficient workplace environment. The EHS/Facilities Coordinator will work closely with management, department leads, and employees to support safety initiatives, maintain necessary documentation, and to oversee facility maintenance, repairs and projects. Must be self-motivated and able to manage multiple projects.\nMPI drives a LEAN culture, focused on customer service excellence. We do this by working to simplify our processes and driving out waste or non-value-added activities. We value participation at all levels and invest in our employees’ training to achieve continuous development of our dynamic team.\nPrincipal Responsibilities and Duties:\nSupports MPI lean culture and initiatives by attending and participating in daily lean meetings while supporting efforts to make continuous improvements throughout MPI.\nSafety:\nAdminister the current Safety Program. Continuously monitor on-site safety risks, develop a plan to address gaps and monitor effectiveness of the Safety Program.\nPerform evaluations for PPE requirements for all work types/roles in the company.\nPlan and implement safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), NYS Dept. of Labor (NYSDOL) and Department of Transportation (DOT).\nMaintains the development, evaluation and upgrading of all safety programs.\nDetermines training requirements. Supports HR with scheduling of testing needed for compliance with Hearing Conservation Program and Respiratory Program.\nEnsure all training requirements are met. This may include conducting employee training and working with contractors and suppliers to provide training.\nStrive for a continuous review of training needs and work towards continuous improvement of our tracking, completion, and documentation of company training needs.\nResponsibility to maintain all documentation required to support compliance and measure effectiveness.\nPerforms safety surveys and inspections, prepares written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective actions or preventive measures were indicated and follows up to ensure measures have been implemented.\nLead Safety Committee meetings with actions that enhance MPI’s safety programs. This includes monthly walkthroughs with set agendas of improvements.\nMonitor the workplace to ensure employees follow safety protocols in all departments.\nConduct post-accident investigations and prepare reports identifying accident causes and risks and corrective actions for use by company personnel and management.\nEnsure safety signage and postings are current and properly displayed.\nCoordinate emergency evacuation drills.\nReview and certify LOTO procedures annually.\nWork with Department Leads and Managers to support continuous improvement.\nFacilities:\nResponsible for following and promoting all plant safety rules / regulations and best practices.\nResponsible for keeping the overall facility, plant utilities, equipment and systems maintained and in a state of continual operational readiness.\nMonitor building systems including HVAC, chillers, air compressors, lighting, plumbing, fire protection and security systems.\nWork with outside vendors and contractors for building maintenance projects and services.\nMaintain facility service records and outside service contracts.\nManage waste disposal services, snow removal services, landscaping and pest control.\nMust be well versed in use of power tools and test equipment.\nPlan and schedule all maintenance activities and maintain inventory of maintenance supplies.
