The Engineering Sales Operations Lead is focused on the smooth delivery of the Engineered Systems to ensure world-class sales and customer service support. This position is responsible for implementing and executing processes, policies and procedures, organizing and coordinating engineering workflow from the field to the engineers.What You'll DoOrder Submittal – Ensure complete and accurate Questionnaires are submitted consistently and through the formalized process.Responsible for completion and accuracy quality controlEnsure opportunity creation and updatesConsult on requested solution to assure best solution for the customerSubmit to engineering with best chance for no revisionWork with ERPDM on best solution results and sales rep developmentConceptual Plan Development – Work with sales team to create the ideal solution for the customer.Mediate engineering discussion to streamline chatter and get to best solutionUnderstand fleet availability and match to proposed conceptualProactively suggest potential sourcing and/or purchases to meet order requirementsCommunicate with customers and/or sales team to clarify job requirementsSales rep guidance/coaching to develop engineered systems expertiseWork with ERPDM on best solution results and sales rep developmentRevision efficiency – strive for minimum revisionsQuoting – Arrive at a proposal that best fits the customer needs and maximizes our pricing opportunityComplete all-inclusive proposalsProvide guidance on pricing, understand pricing dynamics i.e. competition, their price, rate achievementStamped Plan – Ensure timely and accurate delivery of the final stamped planResponsible for plan distributionWork with all parties to verify accuracySupport fleet matchingRevision efficiency – striver for minimum revisionsFacilitate with engineering and ERPDM to reduce delivery time while maintaining accuracyMonitor pricing to minimize plan fee discountingSuggest process improvements to reduce conceptual, quote, and plan turnaround timeDistrict Support (Multi) – Support adjacent sales processus for multiple districtsSupport job scheduling process and toolsFoster sales rep relationship – virtual, in-person (RAL’s), branch/district sales meetingsParticipate in, present, and develop sales rep trainingStrengthen customer relationships working sales teamProvide input on pricing, build consistency and continuityKPI’s & reportingProduct Knowledge – Learn and train on the entire portfolio of engineered systems productsBecome SME on products and applicationsProficient on suggesting engineered systems solutionsGood at training sales team and engineers on products and applicationsProduct introduction and discoverySupport vendor relationships related to engineered systems fleet requirementsOther duties as requests by managementRequirementsBachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience and educationMinimum 5 years of technical rental sales experience in the trench safety product/services lineWorking knowledge of existing products and methods used in support of engineered excavation systems and how they are used in the rental marketVery process and detail orientedStrong numerical and analytical skillsTeamwork drivenProficiency with MS Office (specifically Word, and Excel)Project management skillsStrong presentations skillsStrong customer focus/service skillsEngineering/mechanical aptitude: Ability to properly size, quote, install and maintain large projects Familiar with sales support programs: SFDC, Dodge, PEC or other CRM softwarePossesses the following additional competencies: leadership, strategic thinking, trade area cooperation and teamwork skillsTravel up to 50%This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.Why join us?BenefitsWe don’t just “talk the talk!” We’re an award-winning company (recently named a Glassdoor Best Place to Work in 2026) that truly cares about our people - That’s why we offer best-in-class benefits and perks that will support you and your family.
