Read further to learn how you could help make great things possible not only in your community, but around the world.\n\nThe Transmission Line Section Manager has broad technical knowledge and experience with design and construction of high voltage Transmission Line projects up to 500kV. Leveraging that knowledge and experience, they work in close coordination with a project manager (PM) to manage and execute the engineering and design components of projects. The EM is an experienced, competent engineer who understands the technical requirements of transmission line projects of any complexity and can lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams.\n\nSpecific duties include:\n\nDevelops a partnership with the PM, whereas the PM is responsible for scope, schedule, budget, and client management, and the EM is responsible for technical execution of the project.\n\nDevelops and implements a project execution plan for the technical aspect of projects.\n\nAssigns project tasks and provides technical guidance to project team members.\n\nParticipates in the Client Development Planning and Execution. Responsible for growing the Transmission practice through business development and strengthening client relationships.\n\nSupports the technical aspect of scope, schedule, and budget, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management.\n\nCoordinates and/or performs quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per the HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client. Performs quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis.\n\nWorks independently and may direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more Project Engineers, EIT's, or CADD/Designers.\n\nAbility to lead multiple projects concurrently, utilizing teams in different locations.\n\nWorks with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and will attend training and seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline.\n\nMay also assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events.\n\nParticipates in project reviews as needed.\n\n#LI-JF1\n\nKeywords: Transmission Line Section Manager, high voltage transmission, PLS-CADD\n\nPreferred Qualifications\n\nBS degree in Engineering\n\nPE license\n\n10+ years of technical transmission line experience up to 500kV preferred, including at a minimum, conceptual knowledge of routing, environmental permitting, right of way acquisition, PLS-CADD modeling, steel and wood structure design, foundation design, material procurement, specifications, and construction support\n\nDistribution line design and/or steel lattice tower modeling and design experience a plus\n\nStrong track record of growing a Transmission practice and developing client relationships\n\nTrack record of working cooperatively with diverse teams, regional, department, technical managers and project staff.\n\nExperience using industry standard design software required\n\nProficient with Microsoft Office and conferencing platforms (Zoom, WebEx, Teams, etc.)\n\nSelf-starter with strong written and verbal communication skills preferred\n\nStrong conceptual, organizational, problem solving, and collaboration skills; Ability to work independently and as part of a team.\n\nPrevious consulting firm experience desired\n\nSome travel may be required\n\nRequired Qualifications\n\nBachelor's degree or equivalent experience\n\nA minimum of 10 years experience\n\nProfessional registration, license or certification may be required based on role\n\nStrong communication and listening skills\n\nAbility to handle multiple assignments\n\nGood leadership and organizational skills\n\nAn attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee‑owned culture is a must\n\nWhat We Believe\nHDR is our company.
