Basic maintenance skills preferred, but we are willing to train the right individual!\nThis is a full-time, year-round position that assists with snow removal during the winter months.\n\nDaily Duties\nMaintain grounds in summer: mow and fertilize lawns, plant grass, flowers, shrubs, and trees, prune and fertilize trees and shrubs, remove weeds and brush using power equipment, etc.\nPerform other seasonal grounds work: rake leaves, sweep sand, and protective coverings over shrubs, etc.\nMaintain tools and equipment used in grounds work.\nPick up trash around buildings and dorms and empty trash cans.\nAssist with basic construction tasks related to grounds maintenance such as ditchdigging, pavement patch/repair, fence and sign installation\nAbility and willingness to learn General Maintenance skills in carpentry, plumbing, painting, drywall, etc.\nAssist other departments as needed with furniture moves, cleaning, etc.\nCarry out other special work orders (deliveries, pick-ups, facility set-ups/tear-downs for special events, etc)\nOngoing training and refresher courses required annually.\nPerform other related duties as required.\nRequirements & Qualifications\nGroundskeeping knowledge preferred, but not required\nMust be able to work flexible hours including weekends and possible early evening shifts\nMust be able to lift 75 lbs. frequently\nAbility to work independently\nMust be able to work at a quick pace until job is complete\nAn ideal candidate must be proactive and be confident in his/her abilities.\nMust work cooperatively and professionally with hotel guests and staff.\nProvide oneself with a reliable means of transportation to and from work and the ability to be contacted by telephone\nAbility to stand and walk for up 8+ hours\nFrequent bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, and lifting\nAbility to perform tasks involving repetitive movement.\nAbility to see clearly with or without corrective wear\nHave a basic comprehension of spoken and written English\nLafayette Hotels is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
