Membership and Operations Specialist

The Membership & Operations Specialist will manage projects, support member engagement and retention efforts, and coordinate volunteer and council activities. This individual will play a key role in ensuring projects align with strategic goals while delivering a high-quality member experience.Fully Remote (Must be able to travel to conferences and clients on occasion)Must live in DMV AreaKey Responsibilities: Project Management & ExecutionDevelop and manage project plans aligned with organizational goals using Smartsheet or similar toolsLead project kick-off and planning meetings to define objectives, timelines, and deliverablesTrack progress and ensure projects remain on schedulePartner with leadership to ensure alignment with strategic initiativesProject Evaluation & Continuous ImprovementMeasure project outcomes using internal data, surveys, and stakeholder feedbackAdjust project plans based on performance and insightsApply learnings from current initiatives to improve future projectsMembership Engagement & GrowthSupport recruitment initiatives to attract new membersContinuously refine strategies to increase member engagement across programs and servicesManage the membership renewal process to achieve target retention ratesServe as staff liaison to membership councils and assigned committeesVolunteer & Council CoordinationManage onboarding and renewal processes for volunteersProvide training and ongoing support to council chairs and membersEnsure completion of required documentation and compliance with expectationsTrack participation and maintain accurate records of engagementAssist with updates to council structures and responsibilitiesSociety & Program SupportSupport membership engagement and retention efforts for affiliated societiesCoordinate volunteer processes and project execution for society initiativesAssist with ongoing program needs and special projectsQualifications2–4 years of experience in membership services, project management, or a related fieldExperience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneouslyProficiency in Smartsheet or similar project management softwareStrong skills in Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational and interpersonal abilitiesAbility to think proactively and solve problems creativelyHigh attention to detail and ability to meet deadlinesTeam-oriented mindset with a strong “can-do” attitudePreferredExperience working within an association or nonprofit environmentFamiliarity with Novi Association Management System (AMS)Exposure to Traction/EOS operating system
