Using a harm reduction approach, the Harm Reduction Program Manager will respond to the needs of the drug-using community through outreach and on-site programs, resource development and supply distribution and coordination, as well as crisis intervention, HIV/HCV testing, and wound care.\nAdditionally, the Harm Reduction Program Manager will supervise, train, and mentor interns, volunteers, and staff, and develop policies and training materials.\nServe as liaison and build relationships with educational institutions and other health care providers, community-based organizations, law enforcement, social service agencies, and other stakeholders as assigned by the Director of Jackson Services\nStaff supervision, evaluation, hiring, and termination under the direction of the Director of Jackson Services\nAssign community outreach initiatives and specific organizations to facilitate the development of relationships with Harm Reduction Outreach Specialists and Peer Navigators\nConduct education related to syringe access and other harm reduction programming to participants, staff, interns, volunteers, and other stakeholders\nConduct comprehensive substance use assessments and develop individualized harm reduction-informed treatment plans\nProvide individual and group counseling sessions focused on behavior change, relapse prevention, and wellness\nEducate participants on safer substance use practices, overdose prevention (including naloxone training), and infectious disease prevention\nCollaborate with medical providers, case managers, and community partners to coordinate wraparound services\nOffer crisis intervention and emotional support in a culturally competent and respectful manner\nAdvocate for participant needs and support access to housing, healthcare, and social services\nDevelop and promote specialized overdose prevention and harm reduction messaging targeting people who use drugs (PWUD), people living with HIV (PLWH), and individuals who use drugs and engage in sex work\nEnsure proper enrollment of all participants in the SSP\nFollow proper documentation of interns, students, and volunteers\nConduct HIV and HCV testing in accordance with policies and procedures\nReport HIV and HCV test results in accordance with policies and procedures\nReports HIV and HCV results appropriately and enters HIV test results in aphirm in appropriate timeframe\nEnsure referrals as appropriate for HIV and HCV treatment\nOversee and ensure proper documentation by staff, interns, students, and volunteers\nEnsure the rights of all participants and confidential information remain protected\nProvide training on overdose prevention and access to naloxone for the treatment of drug overdose\nCreate a work schedule for HNV JXN Harm Reduction staff and volunteers\nEnsure staff and volunteers have received appropriate and required training and education to provide optimal harm reduction services to all participants\nCreate a welcoming environment for participants and a safe work environment for staff and volunteers\nAddresses issues and safety concerns within the HNV JXN Harm Reduction program\nEnsure data is entered into SUP promptly and correctly\nPrepare reports necessary for continued funding\nEnsure HNV JXN Harm Reduction program finances stay within the allotted budget for each fiscal year\nEnsures the safe handling, disposal, and storage of safe use supplies.\nOversees the work of the staff to ensure that they are following the protocols for safe handling and disposal of used supplies\nOversees the storage and handling of supplies, ordering supplies, stocking supplies, and all other aspects of the safe use distribution\nActively explores ways to expand services and community partnerships\nQualifications:\nSolid knowledge of harm reduction principles, motivational interviewing, and trauma-informed care\nExcellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills\nAbility to work independently and part of a multidisciplinary team\nExtensive interaction with the served population\nExperience providing health program consultation to organizations and programs\nExperience in policy and educational content development\nHarm Reduction Philosophy embraced and focused on empowerment and autonomy for PLWH/PWUD\nExperience managing and scheduling staff\nExperience assessing and treating wounds common to PWUD\nExperience with HCV and HIV testing procedures\nKnowledge of conditions common to PWUD\nExperience with various Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)\nTwo plus years of experience performing work related to the area of assignment; has life experience and is open to sharing his/her/their story.\nProfessional work ethics reflected through dependability, honesty, integrity, and accountability\nStrong interpersonal skills are needed to ensure a culture of openness and honesty while fostering a culture of inclusion\nDemonstrate multicultural sensitivity and experience or interest in working with underserved communities\nKnowledge of health-related issues faced by people who use drugs, including awareness of people who use drugs network, norms, and culture\nAbility to defuse emotional individuals and to make decisions based upon anticipated outcomes\nDemonstrates flexibility and enthusiasm for the services provided by the organization\nPreferred Qualifications:\nMinimum of two years of experience working in the medical field as a RN, LPN, CNA, or MA\nCurrent CPRC, CPS, CPSS, or CADC/CAADC certification or on development plan in good standing\nEmployees must have reliable transportation, active auto insurance, and a valid driver’s license. (required)\nPERFORMANCE REVIEWS: Written and verbal reviews will be conducted annually. The acting supervisor will complete the performance review and will meet with the employee to read and discuss this review.
