Medical Assistant

Wellspire Medical Group is in search for a Medical Assistant with previous experience in Endocrinology. The candidate needs to be dependable, punctual, and have the ability to multi-task. Preference will be given to Spanish speaking applicants. Duties include but are not limited to: Prepares patients for examination by performing preliminary physical tests; taking blood pressure, weight, temperature; reporting patient history summary. Must be able to take blood pressure manually. Verifies patient information, records medical history, and confirms the purpose of the visit. Answers incoming triage calls from patients, hospitals, and other physicians. Performs services such as prolia injections, A1Cs, glucose tests, CGMs, and thyroid biopsies (packaging, mailing, and collecting specimen). Updates and properly logs the prolia injections administered to patients; keeps track of pharmacies where the medication has been approved. Educates patients on proper insulin administration. Report and record patient lab results, fill prescriptions and medication prior authorizations. Responsible for communicating with reps to schedule training for patients in regard to insulin pumps. Order CGMs from DME companies. Preps patient charts, and confirms/adds patient pharmacy. Schedules hospital follow ups. Transfer patient inquiries to the proper department if needed. Responds to telephone encounters in a timely manner. Reviews the fax box and assigns it to the correct patient chart; take necessary steps to complete the task. Contact reps for any samples needed. Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, and communicating with the office manager of any supplies needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Serves and protects the clinical practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements. Schedule Requirements: Monday to Friday from 7:15 AM to 4:30 PM. Qualifications: EMR experience required, preferably with ECW. Medical Assistant diploma required; certified applicants are highly preferred. Knowledge of HIPAA and OSHA guidelines/regulations. Previous medical office experience required.
