In addition to process / operational improvement, this individual would also provide technical design / support to capital projects for power, distribution, automation, and controls.\n\nAs part of the Pilgrim’s Engineering Team this individual will be primarily responsible for supporting high value capital projects created by Corporate Engineering Managers to improve or provide new process, feed mill, hatchery, refrigeration, and wastewater projects. This individual will act as liaison between Engineering, Maintenance, Environmental, and Operation functions to coordinate capital projects and ensure that corporate initiatives, goals and directives are implemented across the Pilgrim’s network.\n\n*** This position will be located at one of Pilgrim's Texas locations - Nacogdoches, TX, Mt. Pleasant, TX, Waco, TX or Lufkin, TX! Not a REMOTE position!\n\nResponsibilities\n\nLead failure mode analysis to identify, improve and reduce spend on high spend items (motors, bearings, etc….)\n\nWork with finance to identify high cost repair equipment, identify root cause of failure, and modify to reduce maintenance spend.\n\nEvaluates incoming power, electrical systems, products, components, and applications by designing and conducting research programs, applying knowledge of electricity and materials.\n\nConfirms system's and components' capabilities by designing testing methods, testing properties.\n\nBuild control systems capable of providing keen insight into the condition of the operation (rate, down time, operating efficiency, quality, …) and highlight areas for improvement.\n\nAdhere to all safety, USDA, HACCP, and the plane rules and regulations.\n\nSupport construction, maintenance and testing of equipment, machinery and components.\n\nInterpret drawings of equipment in order to properly adjust, maintain or repair the machinery.\n\nRespond to requests by production area when mechanical / electrical issues with equipment have been identified.\n\nCommunicate with production management and personnel to diagnose problems and to determine potential mechanical / electrical problems.\n\nComplete assigned tasks with accuracy and efficiency, in regards to time as well as resources.\n\nTroubleshoots, maintains and repairs complex systems and equipment in one or more areas of assignment electrical systems .\n\nMaintains records of installation and maintenance to track activities ensuring work is documented and on file; prepares status reports for projects.\n\nCoordinates projects related to installation, maintenance and repair work within area of assigned duties including planning and scheduling work and equipment; May provide project lead direction to staff in technical areas of assignment.\n\nInspect contractor’s work and monitor underground utilities ensuring that work is in compliance with specifications, standards and time lines.\n\nOperates specialized equipment in areas of specialization such as Poultry OEM equipment , Baggers, Ishidas, Electrical testing devices, etc…\n\nAssist in electrical installation and repair, Poultry equipment, Service transformers, Service switchboards, distribution panelboards, MCC’s, and automation systems.\n\nHave a thorough knowledge of NEC and other codes.\n\nUnderstand and apply concepts of voltage drop, conductor sizing, conduit fill, etc.\n\nArc Flash calculation experience, beneficial but not required.\n\nWork with outside contractors and engineering firms to ensure that the plans, specifications and bid documents meet Pilgrim’s requirements and safety standards.\n\nEdit electrical specifications.\n\nComprehend one-line diagrams with limited input from Engineers and documentation.\n\nSolve installation problems with electrical systems, travel to the site to resolve issues.\n\nReview calculations for electrical loads and panel schedules.\n\nSPECIFIC EXPERIENCE: The candidate must be able to select correct wire thickness for respective demand in compliance with NEC and UL codes, based on load calculations. Identify electric and electronic components as needed to achieve a cost effective option or solution to a particular product or problem.\n\nMust be able to cost effectively develop and lead a team to develop functional descriptions, wiring schematics, design layouts, electrical diagrams and determine and identify product specifications that meet the cost effective requirements for a specific purpose – in particular the poultry support equipment industry.\n\nAssist in the development and review of budget estimates created. An engineering estimate is a calculated forecast of the time, materials, labor, and costs required to complete a project. It serves as a baseline budget for clients and a benchmark to evaluate contractor bids.\n\nWork with outside Engineering firms to ensure that the plans, specifications and bid documents meet Pilgrim’s legal requirements and safety standards.\n\nAssist in the development and review of budget estimates.\n\nReview, update and edit bid documents created by outside Engineering firms to ensure they contain project specific versions of Pilgrim’s contracts, standards, specifications and safety documents.\n\nSpecific to each project create a detailed scope of work including site limitations and restrictions.\n\nCoordinate with outside Engineering firms to ensure that the design documents, equipment and sub-contractors selected meet Pilgrim’s requirements and standards.\n\nReview all RFI's sent to Corporate Engineering and direct them to the appropriate party for answers. Send all RFI answers back to Corporate Engineering for distribution to all bidders.\n\nAssist the Corporate representatives with estimating and writing all project scope change requests.\n\nDuring the construction/ remodel phase of the project make frequent site visits to ensure the design and equipment installation requirements are being met.\n\nEnsure that Pilgrim’s Safety's work permit policies are in place, being followed, and records maintained.\n\nComputer Skills: Personal computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, Visio and Power Point.
